EVERYTHING GOES TO SHIT PART 2: THE LEAD-UP TO THAT PART WE WERE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER

I bet you were all expecting me to do THAT PART this update.
Well too bad, this is just the lead-up.
Anyway, I go back upstairs and enter the room where 'mummy' was being kept.
There is a diary, which I read, of course.

It says yesterday was her tenth birthday.
This is important for later, as her birthday is the combination to the safe in Thomas's store.

For the viewers at home who still haven't managed to piece things together:
That fish-thing was apparently Thomas's wife and Ramona's mother, and Ramona was doomed to become a fish-thing as well.
Humans getting it on with fish-creatures.
I didn't know Innsmouth was that kind of town~
I go back downstairs and pick up the coloring book.

A [s]boy's[/s] girl's [s]best friend[/s] worst nightmare is [s]his[/s] her mother (who is a fish-monster), as they always say.
I go back outside so I can head to Thomas's store.

oh god she's still there
Don't you have anything better to do than standing around looking creepy
Ignoring this...person, I continue down some stairs, into a tunnel that should take me back to the town square.

Wait where did you come from

Well no shit

And with that, she abruptly leaves.
Uh
Okay then, thanks for the help.

I head down the hallway and come out exactly where I need to be.

I locate the door for the variety store, unlock it, and enter.

I
I hope those are pigs.
Suddenly, there is a noise, and I turn.

I thought everyone knew about Jack by this point.
Apparently not.

Okay, you people aren't even trying at this point.
I mean
really

She hands me something and runs off.
I am alone with the safe.
OKAY, PUZZLE TIME.
Thomas said in his journal that the combination was his daughter's birthday, which was yesterday.
Using that hint, I went back through Jack's journals, and found the one about taking the case, which he wrote the day before. I take that date, subtract the age of Ramona, (which Thomas's journal mentioned) and get the combination.
I then have to turn the dial lock with the arrow keys, and the safe finally opens.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take screenshots of any of this.
OH WELL.

So, not the Necronomicon.
I decide to take this opportunity to see if I can read the thing.

Nope.

This is what Ruth gave me.
How nice.
Anyway, I get ready to leave the store.

Good to know, Jack. But I don't think we're going anywhere anytime soon.

Hrrgblh
SHIFTAfter things return to normal, I head to the hotel, because I might as well get some rest.

What

Oh god they're on to me
Well, there's nothing I can do at this point.
Might as well get on with this, despite the fact this is obviously a trap of some sort.

Oh so
now you have rooms.
I see how this is.

GOLLY GEE JACK
THIS SURE IS SWELL

I suddenly
SHIFT again, but this time, I seem to be in the perspective of...
Charlie Gilman.
In the past.
...no, seriously,
what?

Suddenly, there is a voice.

He leaves.
I also have another
SHIFT back to the rooftop view.
Once that ends, I run behind the counter and take the key to that locked door I found earlier.

This...this is a pretty messy employee lounge.

Holy
shitThat is a
heartI may or may not have seen this earlier in a
SHIFT that happened so suddenly I didn't get a shot of it, but
stillThat is just
gruesomeThere is also a diary and some shotgun shells, which I take.
I also read the diary.

That is
darkWith Jack's sanity slowly slipping, I head back out into the lobby.

He shows up shortly after I shut the door.

He opens the door, and-

Huh.
It transported me right to my room when he opened the door.
Normally I have to walk everywhere, but if the game-

Wait Mr. Gilman what are you doing
I don't know you well enough for that
I know Innsmouth is pretty crazy, but-

HOLY SHIT
Suddenly, everything stops just as abruptly as it started.
Butcher knife, terrifying music, Gilman, everything.
God, I hate these insight shifts, or whatever they really are.

And with that, Jack drifts off into sleep.
Next time, THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR: OH GOD RUN FOR YOUR GOD daisies LIFE
