What the fuck IS the Marker?

Nobody really knows. It's kind of the point. The original is never seen though, these are copies.

Where did they get the language template to build the first red one?

It's implied (although i think someone directly SAYS it) in the second one that Markers are not built, but grown. The material the first was made of was copied using a different element (why it's red). It also puts ideas into people's minds, makes them go insane and such.

Quote:
How does the Necromorph virus work?

Once again, that's the mystery part. It does alter DNA, meaning people who come near it can be turned into necromorphs, but nobody knows exactly HOW the Marker does it. Which is why people are making more, for study. It's possibly done by that fleshy stuff getting in air vents.

Quote:
How the hell did the Valor fall to one slasher?

I doubt any of the guards there had anything to cut limbs off. Using the Plasma Rifle is disturbingly harder than other weapons. Besides, once it killed a few dudes they more than likely changed. Meaning more necromorphs.

Quote:
How the hell did Unitology get so big?

Pretty much some great advertising and brainwashing once people join. They actually select people based on how gullible and easily swayed they are. People who are strong willed? Nope, no joining.

Quote:
How the hell did their government and society get so fucked up?

Goverments are pretty fucked normally, but when half of it is a crazy religion based on turning everyone into hyper zombies? Yeah.

Society as a whole seems pretty okay.

Quote:
Why did the Ishimura go to Aegis VII in the first place? Aren't there other resource rich planets?

Aegis was HUGELY mineral rich. Imagine a gold mine that where you find literal chunks of gold a mile long. That's Aegis. It'd be a quick, easy profit.

Quote:
What caused the Kellion to explode?

Man I don't remember what the Kellion was. Uh, if you mean Issac's ship, it was more than likely the initial damage and Necromorphs. The Marker CAN think on it's own. It must have wanted them there.

Quote:
Why the fuck does the space military fail so hard at fighting anything?

This can be applied to pretty much all non-RTS video games and we both know it.

Quote:
And so on and so forth.

You DO find all this stuff out if you look into everything. It's like Bioshock. You can get the main story by not investigating, but everything else is in the details.

Also Dead Space 2 explains a lot.

Also guess what I have to contribute to this topic now!

Megaman Legends 3.

I'm counting it.

The AI reads your controller, and doesn't care whether or not you have a perfect setup. It WILL guard break you.

Welcome to every fighting game ever. SC3 doesn't do it more than any other.

On the cheating bullshit note, it annoys me in RTS games when they give the AI higher resources and/or other bonuses on higher difficulties instead of making them smarter.

On a more modern note, MAG.

It completely relies on the player being continually wowed by the fact that there's like 250 people playing with you.
When you get past that, it's a mediocre shooter that not even playing with friends can fix.
Full of glitches (including me being stuck under a tank for 10+ minutes) and it doesn't even really feel like you're playing with all those people cause you're assigned small squads and stuck somewhere else.

So yeah do not buy.

Man, I went ape-shit when this game was coming out, then I found out it was PS3-exclusive, so I ended up never playing anyway.

FFVIII again, but for a different reason. Triple Triad.

Minigames are fun and all, but when one is available to you right from the very beginning and is as addictive as this one is then it gets to be a problem. Hunting down all the people with rare cards got to be my motivation rather than advancing the plot to see what happened next. Everything I did was for the cards. Hours upon hours of cards.

And then I lost one match with the All rules on due to a stupid mistake, gave up my best hand, and had nothing afterward that could scratch the opponent's. And resetting would mean losing four hours I had spent to get one card.

I said fuck it and turned off the game and didn't play it again for years.

Yo Great Handsome Oppressor I was actually wondering if you liked SC3
Like, SC2 is one of my favorite games ever, and I was fuckin stoked when 3 was announced. I enjoyed it for a time, but it felt incredibly lacking over time and I still vastly preferred 2. I don't have much of an idea why I didn't enjoy it as much. Just wondering if anyone is of a similar opinion.

I liked the character designs in 2 way more than the ones in 2, but overall I thought SC3 was kick booty, especially with the strategy game mode. SC3 was hella imbalanced too, and some moves were downright stupid/ useless (not that SC4 isn't imba as fuck too).

I liked the multiplayer in 2 better, but the single player was better in SC3 in my opinion.

In retrospect the character designs threw me off as well. I also didn't care all that much for the weird RTS portion of the game. I mean I did it, but I didn't think much of it.
See I loved the Weapon Master mode in SC2 and was sad to see that gone. I did like the create a character, but I remember being very underwhelmed by SC3.

Maybe I was just rustled that Voldo looked fucking awful and Nightmare was a unicorn.
