WHOOP QUOTES COMING RIGHT AT YA

This all is still currently under development, and we have plans to make the limit more palatable in answer to all the tester feedback we received concerning this. In particular we would like to address the speed with which experience begins to drop off and are already looking into it.
Also, since experience points fatigue carries over despite changing weapons, we plan to make it not so harsh.

At the very least, we promise to not have people hitting these limits in a short period of time, such as during the start of B3.

Surplus experience is currently not being used. However, we have received many comments suggesting some sort of reward be put into effect regarding it, and we think that’s a pretty interesting idea. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, though, and we’re currently investigating the possibilities.

Normal or Heroic run?

To be honest I had the game one time. The code failed so I never played the game. I might want to. I don't know. I'm bored.

Which game WoW? My computers graphics didn't work right when I play FF11 which really killed the game for me. Along with the slow as shit leveling. It wouldn't fully render all the monsters, characters, and players skins. They look like shiny shape blobs.

Wow? I played that got bored. Final Fantasy? Wanted to know what the jazz was about so I got it and had to go through so much registering and finally when I had to put in the code on my Xbox it wouldn't accept it. I was teh madzors.

This is actually kind of an interesting and positive article on the fatigue system.

Meh, I still think punishing players for playing the game is kinda bad, and really, in MMOs half the content is at the level cap.

The article does make me see the fatigue system differently, but my main issue is that people aren't going to be gaining EXP every single minute of every single hour. I must prefer GW's little notification system telling you how much you've played and recommending that you simply get off and take a break. (Which, granted, is more for your personal health than any level cap system.)

I just hope they get back to making games that aren't MMOs soon.

If it's to make bullshit like FFXIII or the never-ending prequels to KH (now with more emo and less Disney!), they can quit the videogame industry altogether.

Well, I haven't played either, so I'll have to take your word for it. Personally, I think making another as good as 5 or 9 wouldn't be too hard if they actually tried.

You have been playing Final Fantasy for 100 hours! What were you thinking, that you can live forever?!

Been in the beta for a few days. I found this game gets tons better with a gamepad than the standard keyboard/mouse.

There are some misspelt words in some of the NPC dialog, most notably in Gridania, and there are some reports of NPCs speaking in moonrunes.

Combat does not seem slow to me, in fact it goes quite qucikly when
YOU CANNOT PERFORM THIS ACTION
spams.

The world is amazing. You can tell what they spent most of their budget on just by panning your camera to the left or right.

The 8 hours thing is not as restricting as it seems; I have put the last 10 or so hours of last night into my conjuror and am still recieveing the standard job/physical xp.

I am enjoying this beta, and keeping my preorder.

Dem goggles.

I'm just waiting for a good final fantasy game, I don't have high hopes that 14 will be one.
Square is welcome to prove me wrong anytime, but they haven't yet.

Right now the only thing pissing me off with this game is the patching. Dear god if I didn't F5 on /v/ or /jp/ I would still be doing the orginal patches. So much easier to torrent the patches than it is to use SE's shitty installer.

Quote:
The latest controversy to erupt around Final Fantasy XIV consists of accusations that the game shamelessly copy-pastes the same towns and environmental elements over and over without the slightest variation, making one end of the world identical to another and subsequently devoid of character.

Beta testers provide comparison imagery which they claim highlights the problem:

Whatever the acceptable level of repetition in a game, with Final Fantasy XIV now in the late stages of development it may be too late to expect action on this front – of course, with only 8-15 hours of weekly play allowed, perhaps it is hoped players will not have time for the scenery to become too repetitive.
