Same here, but I like Assassin's Creed and Left 4 Dead.

Therefore, M-rated = Relevant

Only idiots think violent videogames make kids violent. Kids are violent it's a part of growing up. Also, A/O games are rated A/O because they're nudity games, why should we make a game A/O for having blood and gore? The rating system has been skewing more and more gradually over the years.

Not enirely true Dragoon. Manhunt 2, an M rated game with no full on nudity, was going to be rated AO for violence, not as a porn game. they had to cut back on the violence inorder to make it M so it could be sold in most stores, there are a few other games like that

I prefer to believe that kids who are predisposed to violent dispositions/natures will play violent videogames, and because of that, when they do something that garners attention (via private, like a psychologist, or public such as the news media) it's recorded and only leads people to believe that "omg violent video games make our children violent."

This law will never get passed. Back in the 70's (may have been early 80's), when music albums were going to be banned because of swearing and depictions of excessive sex/cursing/etc, they claimed free speech, agreed to put warning labels on their albums, and the issue was never touched again. Warning labels are there for a reason, to tell parents that these albums might contain material not suitable for their children. If they don't choose to listen to those, just like they don't pay attention to a game's rating, that is not the fault of the video game industry.

But, there are already warnings on videogames and they're still trying to pass the bill.

Of course they're still trying to pass the bloody bill, it only got reviewed YESTERDAY. Parents are the fucking problem. Also, its all well and good that I signed that petition but I junked the email cause I kept getting emails about the stupid thing HE PASS IT ON TO EVERYONE HEY THE TIMES COMING HEY ITS ALMOST HERE HEY ITS GONNA GET REVIEWED SOON HEY HOW ARE YOU DOING HOW ARE THE WIFE AND KIDS HEY HERE COMES THE PETITI- OH NO WAIT THATS SOMETHING ELSE ANY DAY NOW.

Video games have been underfire for years, and yet they are still fine. It'd be more of a big deal if this didn't happen with the Atari and Bloody Human Freeway, or Mortal Kombat, or Grand Theft Auto, or Manhunt. This sort of thing has happened with movies, its happened with music, and it happens with art.

I fully agree, but many people look at videogames like this.
In music/movies the violence is being shown to you, you have no conection. In videogames You make your charecter do the violence, you are commiting the action. in childrens minds the line between reality and fantsy can be close togeather, if not the same in some cases. What makes you think that a kid who can do violent crimes and actions in a game wont, because of how similar it can be in reality, wont try something, even in a smaller way, in real life. They see that killing is OK in many games, so how can punching someone be bad at all.

I have heard this argument beforr and laughed, but since ther is not yet any sure evidence shuting this argument down it can still be used.

This, to the nth level. Of course the parents can't be blamed for buying their child Slaughterhouse 5 with quicktime sex sequences followed by ritual beheadings, there's gotta be someone else out there putting these games in the children's consoles. Totally.

That's what I mean - they're being retarded. The video game industry has already undertaken the responsibility of putting warning labels on all their games, and that's pretty much the extent of what they have to do. It's similar to how toys will have "CHOKING HAZARD: Toy contains small parts and may be unsafe for children under the age of three." It basically means "We warned you, if you're dumb enough to let your child swallow this toy piece/play this video game, it's not our fault and you are the one responsible."

It still won't stop parents from suing toy companies, or trying to fight video game sales, but they can't ban the sale of all toys and they can't ban the sale of video games (toy recalls are another thing entirely).

Ya, it has to be the game makers and people selling that all agree its not for kids due to its extream nature. They have to be the reason kids are playing these games in their parents house after getting the parents to buy it for them even though its for 17 and older an they are only 13. I love the logic.

I agree with parents being the problem. Seriously, these neighbors down the street have two young boys who play Call of Duty on their older sister's Wii.
And you know what? Those boys are JERKS. They have no respect for authority, they have dirty mouths, and they love to beat stuff up when things don't go their way. Why? Because their parents let them get away with it--just like they get away with playing games that are too mature for them.

My point is, if the parents aren't willing to put their foot down and put some firm discipline in place, the kids will just continue to do whatever they want and get whatever they want--like violent video games. If the parents said 'no' once in a while the kids wouldn't be playing Call of Duty.

Parents need to look at what their kid wants before they buy it for 'little Johnny' and make an actual EFFORT to correct stupid behavior.

^ Same here. It's annoying when they tell me to put their message on Facebook and Twitter, especially since I don't have either one.
