AWKWARD ZOMBIE

Just did the guild quest for Black Gravios. What a bastard, he's every bit as annoying and tedious as the normal Gravios except he spams the fire gas and has a laser that goes underneath him and does a stupidly large amount of damage. UGH. I wouldn't have bothered with him, but he's the Urgent needed to reach HR7, which means he's mandatory. And I play in a small group of friends, so our group had to kill him off THREE TIMES. I hate Gravios and everything related to him so, so much right now.

To be fair, you have a higher chance of getting certain carves if you do it when he's faking.

oh and fantastic rathalos now has a fucking homing poison claw attack that bodaciously cannot be dodged without evasion+ or knowing the exact timing for the superman dive, fantastic

also now that I went back and did the upgrade missions my merchant and kitchen are goddamn ballin' out of control

s. magala is a fight you want to end really quickly, so i'd go with the fire due to his extreme fire weakness

or just get something really big and heavy and beat him to death with that

Speaking of Zinorge, two plates decided to drop from him for me yesterday. Now if only Najarala would drop its fucking beak so I can make my axe upgrade!

Zinogre is fun but if you're unlucky then getting chainstunned can get really annoying.
As for Rathalos's homing attack, if you run in one direction and then run in the opposite when he starts it, you won't get hit.

you can also just use a shield

but it's less how difficult it is to avoid without seeing the incredibly subtle tell of jack fucking shit, and more there should not be a homing poison claw attack that can take down a third of your health bar and stun you

Hmmm it seems that I now kill gore too quickly in order to break his feelers...or capture. He doesn't even get a chance to limp away. So time to try DPSing slowly.

Just got the game, just started, never played Monster Hunter before. This already looks a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.

You're gonna want to watch ProJared's Monster Hunter guide, starting here

He talks really slowly and kind of like he's talking to children, but he's also really clear and explains the mechanics really well. The guide is made in and around MH3U, but everything still applies to MH4. He does have an additional guide for 4, which you should watch after the regular guide, which explains the new mechanics.

Also Gaijinhunter's videos on weapons, which explain the basic functionality and use of every weapon type.

It's gonna take a while to absorb all this but it's a lot easier than hoping the game will tell you (it won't).

didn't bother with Nerscylla armor at low level. Saw the buffs at high level as well as the ease of forging and decided to give it a go
