It's like Junko and Naegi had a hatebaby. He even kind of shares Naegi's wardrobe (albeit more scruffy) and he has his momma's hair

So I just read the first chapter of the first game, and when they revealed the clue that told you who the real killer was, I looked at it, and went,
"I have no idea what anybody's names are."

Has anyone else had that problem?

Anyways, it's kind of a Sheik issue to some people, but considering that Chihiro dressed like a girl to avoid his own weakness and wanted to come out to people and be stronger, it's heavily assumed by most people that he was going to come out as a guy. Plus everyone used male honorifics for him afterwards, but IDK if Japan feels the same way about trans* pronouns or not, which is the main argument for "Chihiro is a girl" theories.

Chihiro never, ever referred to himself with feminine pronouns. In his introduction, he used 'boku', which is how boys address themselves. Honestly, I understand people who like to think of Chihiro as trans* in order to relate to him but at the same time I feel like they're ignoring important parts of his character in order to have that headcanon.

It's kind of a touchy subject and I feel weird talking any more about it.

Anyways, out of general respect, it's considered courtesy to use either neutral gender pronouns or female pronouns for Chihiro outside of spoilers, and in spoilers to refer to him as male.

You can be a crossdresser without being trans right? I mean from what I read he just dressed like a girl because he didn't feel strong enough to be a man.

Yes, but there are plenty of "crossdressers" that are trans* (It's not really crossdressing though). The main thing is, I think there's a lot of people looking for a "definitive" positive trans* character in a piece of media, so any time there's some grey area, people tend to latch on. They did this within the past few years when the Sheik debate sparked back up, and again for Baka & Test's Hideyoshi, and now it's kinda settled on the latest popular character with issues.

It's kinda like Kanji's sexuality, only there's a lot more subtext and justification for Chihiro being male than anything completely definitive for Kanji's sexuality, but it won't stop people from having personal views and debating it.

Except they do host ads when you're not logged on and you can pay to have only member-bought ads be shown. Also, they're only really hostile if you don't follow the rules. But that's all I can say about SA without looking like (too much of) a shill so...

As for Chihiro and Mondo's realationship, I like how Chihiro was willing to become stronger and overcome whatever weakness he had and the one person he trusted beaned him with a weight. Mondo's basically the biggest punkass in the game, more so than Togami.

(ch 2 spoilers) I actually felt really bad for Mondo. Of course, he shouldn't have done it, and in a situation where he didn't have his secret over his head like Monobear pushed for, he probably wouldn't have lost his shit. Mondo showed a large amount of remorse over what he did and faced his end with about as much dignity as one person could in that situation. He's easily the most sympathetic of the culprits in the entire game.

I really like AUs where Ishimaru, Chihiro and Mondo are friends and its really perfect ok.
