You can use the Killer Weapons without consequence and I'm pretty sure it's harder for them to escape any of your attempts at throwing them while rampaging. Unless you're talking about the duels. Then I dunno, find a way to mash faster.

Yeah, different characters, battles, and it follows the other story line pretty much.
Plus the last mission changes depending on who you start with.

Okay, so how does one unlock the story mode stages for free play (as in, going through a story mode map with a character other than the one you have been assigned with)?

idk, I guess I just like Leo more. Jack feels like a heavy character but he isn't and... just feels clunky to me

Jack is definately slower don't doubt that.
His Killer weapon sweeps alot wider than Leo's does, but it is slower.
