Is that one of those things where kids sit in them and put a quarter in and it lurches uncomfortably up and down? Why would the military base need this?
Alright, while at work you can make a sim do a few different things that don't have much of an impact on anything. Business as usual just has them do normal work, and work slowly toward a promotion, it stresses them out over time though.
Work hard is just that, they work harder and get promotions and raises faster. It stresses them out big time though.
This is the military version of "slack off" They goof around and lose stress and gain fun, but at the cost of their job performance.
Meet and hang out with coworkers just has your sim introduce themselves to their coworkers (really fucking slowly I might add) and hang out builds relationship status with them. Malum will probably do that a lot because she's shy and needs to be friends with her coworkers so she doesn't always have a bad mood.
And finally there's the "suck up to your boss" option.
There are a few more options you can do. Loli can study music theory to boost her job performance, Runes can plan a heist and "practice illicit activites" whatever that means.
I yammered on for so long about game mechanics that it's almost time for Exeres to go to work.
So naturally he wakes up and goes to watch TV in his underwear for an hour instead of doing anything to get ready.
I'll explain what this means more in depth in a bit, but the arrow just means Malum's not doing so hot at work right now. It'd be going up and green if she was doing well.
Loli is the only one who showered and dressed, Runes went to play Blank Screen 2: Blank harder and Exeres is watching TV in his underwear.

The meter on the far right shows how well your sim is doing in their current position, the fuller it is with green the closer they are to a promotion, and the more red means closer to a demotion (i think, ive never actually gotten a sim that low) The faces are what you should work on improving to get to the next level of your career faster, the happier the better.
Malum's not doing so hot because she doesn't know anyone and also slept badly.

Just to recap. Malum, in her military uniform, bought a $25 popsicle from a suspicious van outside her house, jumped in a taxi with it, drove out to the middle of fucking nowhere, sat down in an armchair that is mysteriously placed here and is now eating it.
