Welp

Gotta wait to catch him now

I could be wrong, but I don't believe you're supposed to catch Tapu Koko right then. I think you're supposed to just knock it out.

you can do either. He respawns after the credits so if you are hunting for good stats/nature you should knock him out otherwise it's cutscene hell for SR. I caught him though.

Wait what? *tests* Huh. Well, thanks. That's a lot less grief that I have to deal with.
That is so disgustingly simple that I feel like a complete and total idiot. Is this ever mentioned in-game? Also again, thanks.
Also also, team update.
Meororo (Incineroar)
Muffin (Mismagius FINALLY)
Corbott (Magneton)
Muddimoo (Mudsdale)
Crabagarre (Crabrawler)
And another greenhorn, Tenatia (Sliggoo)
(reserves)
Bubblespot (Araquanid)
Maestro (Lurantis)
Stu-Jeremy (Ribombee)
Maestra (Tsareena)
Head Channon (Toucannon)
I don't even know if anyone reads these but I admit it feels nice to compare these little team update blips to earlier ones.

Wesley Foxx a few pages ago said they can still call reinforcements when they're asleep.

I named my Dartrix Danger Zone and my Trumbeak Fruit Loops. I also have a Pikachu in my team just named Pikachu since I'm mostly using her to breed a Pichu with Electric Terrain, since Pikachu for some reason doesn't get it normally despite Alolan Raichu's ability relying on it.

I seriously didn't know until just now that Sitrus berries don't heal just 30 HP anymore since gen 4.

Wow I just beat the game (so to speak, you know how it is with Pookeymanz and its end-game shenanigans) and I just gotta say...
Why do all my legendaries have Quirky nature?

Also...

Probably the most disappointing thing about this was that it was just another trainer battle. The buildup was great, but as soon as Lusamine takes on this bizarre, almost Lovecraftian new form, she just whips out her Pokeballs and starts battling. Boring. Lame. It's like that Robo-Groudon from Colosseum; what's the point of having this mech/alien form if you're just going to battle the same way as before? Personally, I would've liked it a lot more if Lusamine was the creature we had to fight. It would be something like the battle with black/white Kyurem in B2W2, but hopefully a lot more challenging. They could actually get pretty creative since this wouldn't be an enemy we could catch, and therefore they could make its stats, type, and moves whatever they want without having to worry about players getting their hands on something absurdly overpowered. Just off the top of my head, I'd probably make its stats (not base stats, stats for this battle) something like 400HP/100ATK/250DEF/100SPA/250SPD/90SPE. That way, its attacks would do considerable damage, but they wouldn't be too horribly powerful. Its horribly high HP and defenses, on the other hand, would be to ensure that it would last long enough to force players to use most or all of their Cockfighting Society. As for moves, I'd probably give it something like Dragon Pulse, Fire Lash, Flash Cannon, and Recover, and make sure that the first three have more PP than normal so that it doesn't end up using Struggle. This way, its attacks, while still formidable, still wouldn't be unfairly strong, but I think it would probably be able to do neutral damage to just about every Cockfighting Society. Hell, as long as we're going all out, we could even give it six moves instead of the usual 4. Refresh? Haze? Superpower? Earthquake? To cap it off, I'd probably want to give it some sort of typing that would have few to no weaknesses, or not give it a type at all. After all, thanks to the move Burn Up, we now have Cockfighting Society that can have no type at all. Why not do the same for Lusamine? I mean, she is supposed to be an alien at this point. Wouldn't it make sense to make her as strange and otherworldly as possible by not giving her an identifiable type?

RAMBLE OVER

Anyone else who's beaten the game: any thoughts on this? Do you think this would be an improvement, or is this a terrible idea? I'd like to hear your thoughts!

I do like this idea. While the champion(?) battle against Kukui after this was difficult for a regular Cockfighting Society battle, this idea was my first thought for when Lusamine... uh, fused. Least to say I was surprised when she just popped an Ultra Ball out of her palm. For this sort of thing I was thinking to not bust up the core Cockfighting Society battle formula. They could maybe give her normal moves but call them all something else (a la Earthbound style) and give them a turn to "recharge" in the case where they did run out of PP to give the player just a moment to breath. Then if someone was crazy enough to bring a Smeargle to the battle sketching them or whatever would just yield the normal move. Using Transform would probably have to turn your Ditto into a Lusamine, but hey, that'd probably be okay, right? It wouldn't be impossible to not have the full Lusamine and take out extra moves? And maybe kick that base speed down to 60, Alolamons tend to be on the slow side.

I wanted something like this to happen pretty badly, though I admit I wasn't particularly disappointed when it turned out to be a normal battle. Maybe I just have low expectations? Or maybe the game had already taken a sledgehammer of surpassing to said expectations...?

Really good game though, in my little ol' personal opinion.

Beat the second Kahuna.

If it wasn't for bodaciously the first cutscene of the game, the Aether foundation would've made me question whether they're nice guys or suspicious.

Yeah, they really botched that pretty badly. I mean, I could already tell from the trailers that the Aether foundation was probably a villainous team, but still.

Thanks! The thought of having regular moves be referred to in the way you mentioned had occurred to me before. A while back, I considered the idea of a villainous team using robots or something and having attacks like "a stream of fire!" (flamethrower) or "a powerful jet of water!" (Hydro Pump). I figure something similar could be done here. For the moves I mentioned you could have descriptions like "a bizarre wave" (dragon pulse), "a burning tentacle" (fire lash), and "a blast of light" (flash cannon). I dunno, just sounds like a neat idea.

My team at the end of the game:
Zevrant (Kommo-o, Lv 57)
Ferna (Salazzle, Lv 61)
Lucien (Dugtrio, Lv 60)
Vizzie (Vikavolt, Lv 62)
Drenn (Decidueye, Lv 61)
Garayan (Bruxish, Lv 60)

Kommo-o and Salazzle are definitely now two of my favourite Pokemon.

I beat Kukui with a total of two of my Pokemon.
Kommo-o, Bulk Up 6x against his Lycanroc. Then got OHKO'd by Ninetales' dazzling gleam.
Salazzle next, Nasty Plot, Flamethrower, Ninetales done for.
Snorlax finished off Salazzle, I revived Kommo-o during this.
Kommo-o Bulk up 6 times again, wipe the rest of his team with Brick Break and Dragon Claw. :p
The best part was the last Cockfighting Society was Magnezone, was just a constant Brick Break, Sturdy, Full Restore, Brick Break, Sturdy, Full Restore until Kukui ran out.

Also if you keep spinning your trainer around they start to pirouette.

Wow wow, congrats! That actually reminds me of a story...
The other day I was bored stiff grinding and thought "Hey, why don't I try chaining SOS Cockfighting Society to find a shiny?".
So I used ye olde Adrenaline Orb against an Absol and let Maestra sit there while I occasionally healed.
After what I swear was 40 turns I had only gotten 1 SOS call to work. SO MANY TIMES the stupid dog called for help and nothing happened. It had gone on for about on hour with no headway before I just reasoned "Forget it." and kicked the thing into next week.
I might try this again once I nab that shiny charm... assuming I manage to get a shiny charm to begin with. I always have wanted to complete a National Dex...

Can I just say fuck the Battle Tree? Normally things like the Battle Tower and Battle Maison will start you out against unevolved Cockfighting Society in order to ease you in and let you rack up some BP before throwing the harder stuff at you, but the Battle Tree immediately has you fighting the kind of things you'd face 30 or 40 fights into the Battle Maison. First fight, I went up against a guy who swept my team with a Metagross. And some of them even have Z-moves! And I figured that maybe with the difficulty spike, they'd give you a good number of BP, but nope! 1 per battle! And this is the only way to get most of the Mega Stones? What the fuck, Game Freak? I've given it a second chance, and I'm up to battle #9, but still, what were they thinking?
