I see several significant differences. For one thing, the main landmass is significantly smaller, yet other parts are almost to scale? Glaring inconsistency.
For another, there is a huge lake where a forest should be, and a forest where a desert-like area should be, and more forest where mountains should be, and some more mountains where a canyon should be, and nothing where more mountains should be. The other island is also rotated jarringly off of where it should be, and a green landmass that goes off-map on the bottom right is replaced with a smaller brown landmass. I would hardly call all of this "minor differences".
For another, Mt. Thunder is nowhere to be seen. You see a mountain off frame that could be Mt. Thunder...Except for the fact that the new map seems to be smaller and therefore zoomed out more than the original map, which would mean the mountain would be entirely in focus, not offscreen.
The fact that they just randomly showed it in a trailer glaringly obviously and yet still haven't acknowledged it AT ALL one month before release just makes it less believable.

There is no game called Rainbow Rescue Team. Are you referring to Red and Blue Rescue Team?

I remember having discussions about Hyrule being Hyrule despite obviously not being Hyrule

The general shape is the same, the placement of small islands is the same...
if that's NOT supposed to be the same place they blatantly ripped the original place off when creating this one.

You're really holding tight onto something you could just accept, they made some design changes, how many game companies do that?
Hell, if they copied it part for part I bet there'd be plenty of people call them lazy for not thinking up something new.
They thought about that, if it was the exact same, people would complain, but by keeping the main shape of the island they kept the ID of it being the same place.

One part you mentioned, the large lake. You can see a small lake on R/BRT behind some mountains, what if by design choice they enlarged that lake by a lot and move those mountains to the right and made them bigger, also moving Mt. Thunder further up on the map?
Seriously, they change a few things and it's a whole different island to you.

I suppose if you played Monster Hunter these 2 areas are probably unrelated.

It's the same as this, they've got the same basic shapes, but the areas themselves look a bit different. It doesn't make them different places.

It's less changed than Weyard was betweenthe original Golden Sun and Dark Dawn.

Caught a female Numel, currently named Volcano. If it were male I'd be tempted to name it Norrin because reasons...

Still hoping to name a few more pokemon after forum members... might even just name them without anyone saying anything. I almost named the Crobat Aquabat until someone on Twitter wanted it named after them

Anyway, the 'mons that need names are Ninjask(male), Shedinja, Latias, Castform (female) Camerupt (female) and Lairon (female) which will soon be an Aggron.

So many ladies o.O

In other news, I found my old copy of Diamond and I'm playing through it again. I picked Piplup as my starter.

Don't think I can get a Shinx until I beat the elite 4, but the Latias is now Pikscast (I accidentally spelled it as Piscast the first time ) and the Ninjask is now Kamak~

perhaps a Shinx from that Diamond version can be named D-vid?
