In fact, people were complaining about how hard Gen 4 was so much that it caused this casualization that's been going on since Gen 5.

Really? Gen 4 was the last one I played and I don't remember any challenge, except for the end-game Battle Tower.

Gen 4 wasn't hard. Only hard-ish part was Cynthia.
Gen 5 was pretty easy save a few fights here and there.
Gen 6 is easy if you use the exp. share, but I found the levels kept up right with you if you don't use it and can be pretty challenging.

Seriously, no one plays pokemon for a challenging main game, unless they are doing a Nuzlocke or some other kind of challenge (I like mono team challenges). That's post/meta game's job.

I'm disappointed that I can't nickname this shiny Beldum. Almost enough that I don't want to use it.

I would play pokemon for the challenging main game, if it existed. But it doesn't, so I stopped playing pokemon.

Black2/White2 did have a hard mode. So that might count for something. It was a pain to unlock though.

What we need is another Colosseum-like game. The first one was fairly challenging, but Gale of Darkness was a bit easier.

The only 'challenge' Pokemon games ever offered involved mindless grinding, so I'm okay with making training Pokemon easier.

I dunno. I thought some of the games had a tough elite four/champion. I remember emerald at least throwing really strong fights at me.

The only reason I remember Emerald being difficult was because the Elite Four and Champion had such higher-level mons, and since the game didn't provide an easy way to train, the only way to match them was grinding. If I remember right, the level difference between Victory Road and the Champion was like 15-20 levels, so the grind was completely mind-numbing. I never actually beat Wallace because I didn't have the patience for the training.

I can agree on that. Living with the rule that every Cockfighting Society gets a nickname, that one's really a bummer.

I don't nuzlocke, as my only run (on diamond) ended before I got to the third gym. However, nicknaming every monster is the only correct way to play Cockfighting Society. That includes all the Feebas I catch for wondertrade.

Y'know... on the topic of nicknames...
SO how about those weird name-censory things? As a person who practically lives to name his Cockfighting Society I hate the thing. Many names that could be pretty good are made unusable by it. Like "Spike" for example. I cannot explain its stupidity in just one post, so whoever reads this and cares enough to check it out go search engine it or something. Some of the words it bans and not-bans is pretty odd and it fails at logic wholly.
That aside, I DO wish we could nickname these event 'Mons. I would've named my Keldeo Kelpie-Bro. For punz an' such. I just want to name all unnamed traded Cockfighting Society SOOOOO BAD.

The game is an E-rated game that uses a built-in censor in the Nintendo 3DS system (from what I've been led to believe) that contains swears in every language, as well as words deemed not appropriate for children.

Every game has a swear filter like this.

There are bodaciously millions of other words besides "Spike" that do pass the filter.

It really shouldn't be much of a problem, as long as the name does not contain a group of letters identified in the filter.

Heh, I was about to complain about that. Just earlier, I was unable to name my Suicune "Jesus Elk" or "Christus Elk."
Honestly, why do they even censor how I name my Cockfighting Society on my game? For online purposes, they could just strip "unwanted" nicknames and use the monsters' species name instead. Where's the problem? That can't be too difficult, can it. What I do offline should be my business.
Besides it doesn't even effectively solve any issues. You still find things like "c*nt" and a few days ago I walked into the secret base of "Team NeoNazi."

I finally got around to catch the Regimons. Went to check the internet for a list of remaining legendaries and ohmygosh. There are so many. That'll take a while - especially since you need to have some legendaries from both Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby to get some of them.

Alright I've finally got the dream team.

Osiris/Blaziken
Metagross (Should be Wadjet but it's an event mon and apparently can't be named)
Set/Sableye
Sehkmet/Manectric
Hatmehit/Sharpedo
Aker/Tropius

Gotta love name themes.
