Apparently the infamous elevator lady from X and Y makes her return in ORAS. It's a pretty neat easter egg though.

It might be that I'm more invested in ORAS's story. I did not care for X/Y's story at all.

i think i enjoyed the overall atmosphere of X/Y more than ORAS. i love the old school emerald and everything about it, and ORAS was pretty awesome as well, including the delta episode

however it didnt grab me. maybe cause i already knew all the outcomes and such, being that its a remake. kalos did have a story that was kinda eh to follow but it was at least a NEW story that i could explore and find out. new pokemans, new people, new stories all in all. ORAS was just a rehash down memory lane that didnt match up to nostalgia.

now im not saying it aint good. i beat the shit outta the game and enjoyed it. still am in fact. i loved the addition of latias even if it was kinda handed to me. the ability to play that flute and just fucking fly anywhere made me feel exactly the same as i felt when i got the highwind on FFVII, ecstatic and loving life. not having to have a poke with fly in the party was pretty bitchin too even if it defies the laws of what the fuck with him busting out of his pokeball thats currently in a computer BUT HEY w/e works.

i can honestly say with the events of delta episode and X/Ys story im pretty interested to see Z...or X2/Y2 if they decide to follow that stupid route of naming

Okay, someone might've already said this before, but I'm not about to go through several pages and posts just to find the statement.

I've noticed a LOT (SOME) of people not picking up ORAS because of a "been there" sort of feeling. And I understand, but ORAS (in my relatively insignificant opinion...) is really worth picking up! Now many of you people who care enough to be reading this far may be thinking: "But random forumer I've never seen before (Zat's me), why is THAT?? This is just a graphical revamp of Ruby and Sapphire, and I didn't even like gen III!" But I say that's exactly WHY you should get it! A simple revamp in graphics does WONDERS for the game. It actually makes the game feel brand-new! Also, can I just say "aftergame side-quests?" Because this game has a good bulk of them. And finding all the new mega stones will certainly take an aspect of time. Of course, though, if you really think this game isn't worth the time or cheddar, I'm not saying you HAVE to get it. Just... look at it from a different angle. I, personally, really liked it. In fact, I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game this much in quite a while. Maybe watch a walkthrough or LP of it if you don;t want it? (That's what I'd do if I hadn't bought it.)

But, this is just my opinion. Although I DO want to understand where and why someone'd get a "been there" feeling from this game. Y'know... in their own words. I'm curious.

EDIT: Okay, a LOT might be an exaggeration. Make that SOME.

...Because it's a remake and virtually the only two things that change in the story are you being handed a Lati@s before the sixth gym and the box legend being Primal?
Certainly not my place to answer for them, but it's a pretty solid point.

And a revamp of graphics doesn't automatically make the game good. If a game looks like shit, better graphics just make it shit with glitter on it.

And there's only one postgame quest, and it's hardly a sidequest, you're pretty much roped right into it. And it's not too terribly long. The Battle Resort is the only other postgame-related activity other than catching a bunch of legendaries. And finding megastones isn't that hard either.

People are entitled to their own opinion, you can't just point out something you liked about the game and expect them to magically change their opinion.

...In fact, not very many people on this forum specifically stated they wouldn't buy ORAS. Most of the people stating their opinions already played the game.

Personally I think ORAS is worth checking out just for the DexNav. It's really a great feature.

Good point. I'm glad I asked. But I never said just THIS forum, for the record. But yes... it still wasn't very much.
Also, you must be pretty good at finding mega stones. I'm having a terrible time of it.
Just in my relatively insignificant opinion, this game at least IMPROVED os RS and that's the main reason I enjoyed it. Like a glittery nostalgia lane, if you will.

I never expected this message to be interpreted, but I see how it could've been. I never actually expected anyone to sparklytastically love ORAS after I posted. I just wanted a friendly change of opinions... honest!
But I say that if nearly anything had "Pokemon" slapped on it, I'd at least spend a good chunk of time searching it up to see what the heck it was. And then chances are I'd buy it anyway. It's like some sort of habit.

As an occasional player of the series, ill throw my two cents in. ORAS seems to just be more of the same, but in a shiny new package. The people who loved the original and want to relive it will be pop flyin' with rse but with more. That's fine. To some, like me, the formula feels stale and no longer fun. Im sure its a good game, but what makes it so much different than the last few?

I've never played all the way through the original since I didn't actually own it, so this game is fairly new to me. I do know there are definitely differences, not particularly large ones, but differences nonetheless. Soaring is the biggest one I can think of, not counting things that were introduced over the years that weren't available in the original like the special/physical split.. I'm not sure about any specific plot differences that weren't already discussed other than some new characters or modified personalities for preexisting characters.
I think one reason one may or may not want to buy it is just for some new but not large additions to some old nostalgia and some new megas. It's not really giving the remake enough credit to just say it's a just graphical update.
I also don't disagree that the series is more or less of the same thing with some minor changes to the formula as the years go by. I'm really hoping that one day there'll be something bigger than a new type or new pokemon forms to grace the series. It would be a really fun change of pace!

At least we'll have Pokken.

In 2016 at the earliest.

Considering Gen 3 was my childhood, I was more than pop flyin' to go back to Hoenn. All of the changes they made were great. 3D looks nice and there are a few extra touches here and there that improved upon X/Y design. The music is amazing and the new tracks they added are great too. Wally actually as a character in this game (and Brenden and May to some extent). Soaring is nice, as well as flying to any route you want. Swimming is so much better and surfing on Sharpedo is awesome. The addition of mega evolution/primal reversion in Hoenn felt weird to me at first and then I grew to really like the new megas/reversions. It was nice that the game did take a bit before it threw megas at you. But yeah, it's a remake that stays very true to the originals but does some parts better because it draws from the newer mechanics.

I haven't gotten ORAS yet (lol thanks college) but honestly since i still play X almost every day, I'm pretty excited just to have some new(ish) experiences in the Pokemon world now that I've done everything there is to do in this one. I think X/Y were really well polished games (graphics, musics, even the mechanics to some extent) so I kinda want ORAS to basically provide me with a new playthrough on this new Pokemon "engine" of sorts. Like, if I wanted to relive my Sapphire game I could dig it up, but I would much rather do so with all the modern stylings that the 3DS generation brings. It looks better, feels cleaner, and has just generally improved the gameplay experience.

I'm not sure if this happened in the original, but so far my favorite part of the game is probably your character jumping onto the legendary's back. It was just very adorable looking for some reason. It just reminded me of a kid pretending his/her parent was a skyscraper and climbing it!

No, that did not happen in the original. You just got to that bottom chamber and fought. It is cute though.

All my shinies and old pokemon made it through fine but for some reason Pokebank wont let me take my Arceus with me. I climbed the stairway to heavan for this thing and now they're telling me it's no good.

That's the problem.
You hacked the Azure Flute into the game to get to the Hall of Origin to get Arceus.
Hall of Origin Arceuses are illegal.
