I picked up Alpha Sapphire today. I've been playing for ten minutes and I already love it.

Dat intro.

It's been so long since I've played, I guess I don't remember that.

Also I think I'm in love with this game. The DexNav alone is worth the purchase. This is so much fun.

Was going to eat a restaurant for wedding anniversary lunch today, turns out it was closed. Happened to remember the Eon ticket event was on today and I had my pokemon with me for streetpasses. Turned up, dozens of people there getting the Eon ticket, there's me with a game that I haven't even played yet, unable to get in game friends. Guess I should have done that instead of playing Dragon Age Inquisition. Whoops

I want a Magnemite for my team, but the only way to do that before New Mauville is through a horde in Route 110. But I haven't seen hordes anywhere in the game so far. Am I doing something wrong? Are they just super rare or something?

You got Honey or a Pokemon with Sweet Scent?

Bam. Instant horde.

Alright, thanks. I got an Oddish with Sweet Scent and managed to pick up the Magnemite.

Got it now. I don't know how exactly the DexNav works but the tutorial for it gave me a Poochyena with Fire Fang which is nice.

Here's the Dexnav abridged tutorial.

Run around a bit.
Find a shaking patch of grass, a Pokemon is there.
Sneak up on the Pokemon.
When you get close enough, the Dexnav will scan it for details, walk into the pokemon and fight it/run away from it and your search level increases.
The higher your search level, the better the Pokemon will be.
Dexnav Pokemon could have Egg moves, Hidden Abilities, or even holding an item.
Those "Potential Stars" represent perfect IV's.
If you caught a Pokemon, you can use the Dexnav to search for that Pokemon, possibly forcing it to pop up.
If you keep searching for the same Pokemon, you'll start Dexnav chaining.
Keep it up, and I believe you'll run into better Pokemon over time with a higher chance at better things about it. There are also rumors you can find Shinies this way.

Sweet.
You know what's the good thing about getting the game a week later than the rest of the world? I already got a Protean Froakie, a Kabuto, a Trapinch and a Shinx from wondertrade and I'm only at the first gym.

I beat Wattson and I'm making my way to Verdanturf now. Current team is Grovyle, Makuhita, Kadabra, Magnemite, Azumarill, and an HM Slave Slakoth.

I haven't had time to play recently so I'm only just at the Safari Zone.

I also keep changing my party around because I like so many that I can't decide on who to keep permanently. I've got Sceptile, Mightyena, Seviper, Latias, Milotic, and a Linoone to carry my HMs and Secret Power.

Also, apparently breeding can just produce hidden abilities now, since I was breeding Feebas for a Sp Atk nature and ended up getting one that had Oblivious, resulting in a Milotic with Competetive, which is fantastic given all the Intimidate that gets thrown around in Hoenn.
