If you know BlazBlue, it's a faster and more offensive metagame with shorter combos (that still do damage) and a burst gauge that recovers after a burst, instead of two bursts per match.
It's a fast-paced, high-damage game with lots of mechanics you need to apprehend (fortunately dustloop.com will help you for that) and lots of unique characters. Not two characters are alike and each one has really different assets that end up creating very interesting ways to play. Whether you like to stay away and annoy your opponent (Testament, Eddie), rush in (Chipp), poke it out (Baiken), do infinites with one button (Sol Badguy)
(not really), play broken characters (Justice, Kliff), play a better version of Tager (Potemkin), go classy-low-tier-that-can-still-win-with-crazy-tactics (Johnny, Venom) or play characters that make absolutely no sense (Faust, Zappa), you'll find your match. The game also looks amazing and has one of the most awesome soundtrack ever made.
It's a game that demands a lot of skills when it comes to execution and mindgames, but is still very enjoyable at lower levels of play (aka MASH LOOP-DA-LOOP WITH BRIDGET). It's considered an "an
ime" fighter because of the double-jumps, air dashes and all that jazz, but it doesn't take away from how excellent and unique it is.
