because it made sense and had a build up across quite a few games

where as the build up to x going maverick is zip zero none at all

Well, the original plan for MMZ1 was to have the real X as a villain so Inafune probably had some way of making it not seem like an asspull

yes

he has himself sealed away because he is the origination of the maverick virus and in that state he can be studied.
weil eventually starts the elf wars, and steals zero's body and creates omega, but zero's mind is uploaded into a new body, zero and X fuck up weil and banish him into the wasteland while banishing omega into space
zero then seals himself away permanently because he thinks as long as he's around there will still be wars and shit

and the ciel finds him a solid forever later

On that note, I could really stand to get another Megaman game by Inti Creates. I enjoyed all Zero and ZX games a lot, despite armored panties.

Well I'm actually lukewarm on Torchman because I can't see him as anything other than a touched-up Fireman but still
