In that world, I would also care about IGN scores.

Well, there IS a lot of water in Hoenn, guys. I think the most important question is whether it fits the theme of the game or not. Maybe there's a lot of water, but also a lot of land, which would make sense with the theme of balance that's present throughout Ruby and Sapphire, or maybe there's way more water than land, but I don't know, the game isn't even out yet.

I might be somewhat alone on this, but the water never actually bothered me that much in the old games. I always had repels on me and I just like surfing.

Just a little note, ORAS will have XY's surfing speed and wild encounter rate, rather than Gen 3's godawful pace. You can blaze from Sootopolis to Pacifidlog in practically two minutes, minus trainer battles.

EDIT:

And you losers thought they wouldn't dub this

Not...really fond of that announcer though.

It has always, always bothered me that people hated RSE's amount of water so much. It was so much fun! You could actually explore and find lots of cool stuff, plus with Dive included it was really adventurous.

But everyone hated it back in the day, and it felt like they were afraid to do any meaningful water after that. DPP had really slow surfing, and was essentially only necessary to get to the League. BW had some surfing + diving, but it was an optional area. And XY had really limited surfing too, even though they gave you a cool Lapras-riding animation.

So every new game release, I have been quietly sad that no one wanted to do lengthy surfing exploring sequences. We will forever be confined to the first three gens if we want that experience, I guess.

Water has been the most numerous type for years now so I'm not sure where this guy is coming from.

I actually really liked the water areas. I liked the diving since exploration is a big plus for me. It was the other aspects of RSE that I didn't like.

Game has been legally released in various regions now. There is a data mining in progress, but again, against the rules and therefore shouldn't be mentioned.
So here's Serebii's coverage:

I really hope they do something to make Brendan/May more interesting. They were the most boring rival of any Pokemon game, right down to their awful team. Their character development begins and ends at "Hi, I'm Prof. Birch's kid! Let's fight!".

You don't fight everyone you meet by way of introduction? =o
But seriously, they were blaaaaaaand. I can't even remember their roles from the first R/E/S. Then again, all the npcs have the personality of a pet rock. -_-'

I haven't played much since diamond. Do rivals still pop up for a few seconds of dialogue and then disappear again until much farther into the game? I'm tempted to pick this up, but I want a little more story than we've gotten in the past.

Pop up just for dialogue? Yes. Disappear? Definitely not. Your friends in X and Y do the exact opposite of that, so if that severely affects your opinion of the game, avoid them like the plague. Gen 5 seemed pretty good with the rivals, though.

As for ORAS, Brendan and May will appear many times throughout the game, unlike the originals.

Unrelated: MAJOR HUGE NEWS THAT IS VERY SPOILERIFFIC: BOTH ORAS AND RSE ARE CANON
THEY'RE IN DIFFERENT UNIVERSES

People are starting to speculate that both ORAS and the events before and during XY are in a timeline separate from the other games. This is some serious shit, guys. Cockfighting Society has never gone this DEEPEST LORE before.

As if Arceus wasn't godlike enough, soon we'll have Pokemon ruling over alternate universes.

Also I don't see how that's really a spoiler? Anything that meta is pretty much all speculation, I'd think.

No, it's canon.
EDIT: Apparently the XY speculation was true.
