I just thought of something. You know how on the GTS people think that trading a Bidoof for a Deoxys is a balanced trade, and 90% of the people trading are looking for Celebi, Deoxys, Shaymin, etc.? If they are able to put down those pokemon as what they are looking for in a trade, wouldn't that mean that those pokemon are in their pokedex, and therefore means that, since they are only available at events, they already have them?

A. you just need to see it to have it in your pokedex in diamond/pearl/maybe platnium.

B. action replay. there's a code that just says you've seen every pokemon. so then you can go GTS hunting for them.

Poor GTS. Nintendo have a habit of making online content that should work. But only in a perfect world where no gamers are ever faggots.

I tend not to use it much anymore unless I really need something and can't get it from any of my friends. Which is pretty daisies rare, tbh.

Also, Notched-Ear Pichu (can't find the official art), one of the stars of the 12th movie. It was announced with pretty much the same status as a brand new species (so don't write this off by mentioning Sparky from the first series). Anyone think that the next 'big' change to the Cockfighting Society formula will be rare appearance alterations in a similar vein to shinies? Like, a 1-in-8194 chance of encountering a shiny 'mon and a similar chance of finding an alternate appearance 'mon. And a 1-in-a-million chance of encountering a shiny alt :3

Why would someone with AR be ASKING for a Pokemon?!

The notched-ear Pichu was announced with such fanfare because of its major role in the new movie. I mean, it is the "small, yellow Electric-type that would save the world".
And slight variants in Pokemon hair has been in the anime quite a lot! Heck, this isn't even te first Pichu with a variant (the other one was one of the Pichu Brothers).

Plus, there already are appearance alterations in the form of different genders for a lot of the pokemon.

Good point.
Although it may help that using AR on Pokemon games has become obsolete for those who have a DSi and an SD card. Woo.

The DSi is a DS without a GBA Slot and a new menu, So Action Replay will still work

indeed.

seriously I've only found one good code for getting pokemon in Diamond/pearl. and that requires a long-booty wall of text. and If I want a different pokemon, I have to change a few numbers and put them in a specific order.

It'll work, sure, but its still made redundant by PokeSav.

Well, with the exception of the crappier codes like "walk through walls".

Right guys, dilemma time! I've finally decided that, since I'm getting a DSi (don't try persuade me otherwise; especially you Username, with your "DSi only has a new menu" rubbish) in the Summer, I've decided it'd be better to buy a 4th Gen Pokemon game now since I can still play it with my mother's DS.
Now Pokemon Platinum doesn't come out for fourty days here. But I'm still playing through Red and Battle Revolution, I'm only about half-way through both of those (and I want to beat PBR normally before using custom teams). Soo....
Is it worth waiting and getting Platinum, or would I be better getting Diamond now, if they're both the same price? And if so (I'd be inclined to say 'yes', as I still have a Red to finish), what about when you consider prices; about how much more (in percentage) would it be worth playing for Platinum?
Or would I be better off altogether with buying both of them?

Well, I haven't played past the first gym, but so far platinum and diamond are the exact same thing. You'd be better off with diamond.

The gym designs are different in Platinum and the story has some new elements.

Also, in D/P you had to complete the game before certain Pokemon from previous gens became available in encounters (so far I've encountered Ralts, Houndoom and I know Snorunt will be appearing soon - these did not appear so early in D/P).

I'd recommend getting Platinum if you're only getting one (I have all three though).

On the DSi thing - bear in mind you won't be able to transfer your 'Fire Red' Pokemon into D/P/Pt without a GBA port.

Well, that 'Looker' guy is a new element - I'm guessing he's gonna play an important part somewhere along the line.

I suppose Pokemon doesn't really have a story, but stuff happens.

Pokemon has a story?

Sure it does. All Pokemon stories go like this:
You are a kid. You want to be the pokemon master. You get a pokemon. There are bad guys. They like to do bad stuff. Your rival is a bast.

From what I can tell, the only major improvements are a minor change in storyline, the minus world (heh), faster surfing, slightly faster battles, better online battling system (I'll stick to PBR for online, it's more fun and you can use your opponents pokemon offline), more SinnohDex pokemon, and some graphical improvements. Am I missing anything there?

Yeah... I never had a GBA. I'm not missing much there.
At this point, the only way I'd be getting a regular DS is if they're significantly cheaper. And if I take an interest in GBA games again (aka: someone starts re-selling them), then I can just get a GBAmicro and use the family DS for transferring between games. Or just use PokeSav, which I'll use for the previous gens too.

Yeah, I feel no remorse over doing that.

Actually, if I'm not missing any major improvements, I'm better off with Diamond. Especially as Platinum isn't compatible with MyPokemonRanch yet, and may not be later...
Oh yeah, Ranch. I plan on getting that too. Simply because I'm a collector type, and I really want something to do with those weaker Pokemon besides having them sit in a box. Plus, a storage system for Pokemon I don't plan on using is always handy.
Plus, a legal Mew is always a good thing!

How do you get a legal Mew with Pokemon Ranch?

Please tell me so I know if it's worth downloading (not that I've ever really cared for micro-legendaried).
