News sites are reporting a Mystery Egg glitch right now, but keep in mind that a lot of it seems to be unknown and prone to speculation on what happened.

The only concrete information we have is:

-The first Mystery Egg appeared the day the games were released (apparently in Australia?). The person who got it said it appeared randomly after he caught his 7th Pokemon but he couldn't remember if he wonder traded or did a general trade with a friend/acquaintance/whatever and the Pokemon turned into the bad egg.
-He didn't report any Pokemon MISSING, it's uncertain if the egg just appeared or replaced something he didn't remember getting.
-a day later a second Mystery Egg appeared. We don't know how it did, but it seems he might have tried to trade the egg to someone to get rid of it, only for it to stay with him and spawn a second one. He didn't go into details of how or why though.
-Another egg was generated a few days ago in Japan. According to the owner, it was a Pokemon that turned into an egg, but that might have some translation issue or might have gotten swept up in the hype about how terrible this glitch is.

If it's something that spontaneously generates in the game, it will likely not harm your Pokemon and will probably be untradeable. It sucks, but the only way to get rid of it will be a new game file. Trading will probably result in duplicates being made in your game and will not spread outwards.

If it's something that happens with hacked Pokemon, these can be wonder traded or regular traded and then turn into the eggs. This seems unlikely since the first one appeared on the first day the game came out, and hacking didn't appear to be happening. However, the fact that the OP didn't really say conclusively how the second egg generated could mean they're hiding something about bad hacking. We don't really know at this point.

We don't know if the mystery egg can corrupt your data or replace your Pokemon. There hasn't been enough people with proof that they've gotten it and that it's spreading. We bodaciously only have proof of it's existence from 2 people on the internet so far. If you manage to get one of these eggs, quarantine it immediately in an empty box and report it directly to Nintendo's tech forum with the person who sent you it (or what you were doing to get it), and document it so that they can work on a patch.

As of right now, it's nothing to be worried about since it is unconfirmed, but with the larger sites now getting swept up in the controversy, you're better off knowing the facts and being safe.

My favorite painting is the one with the Mew. Not because it looks nice (it does), but because of the text that goes with it.

My favorite is "Golurk and the Knight" because the idea of a knight traveling across the land with a Golurk is badass.
