What would make breeding super easy and nice would be if the offspring got at least the average value of the IVs of the parents.
So 17/22/0/23/4/31 and 11/27/8/15/21/31 would result in something with at least
14/25/4/19/13/31
It would make it so much faster to get good offspring instead of having the chance of the parents both having 31 in a stat and the child having 2 in the same stat because it didn't get passed down.
No. Averages would be bad because then they bring down the IV's of other stats.
Destiny Knot (which guarantees the passing of 5 IV's between parents) and a good Ditto makes breeding a lot easier. You'll just need to switch out the Pokemon you're breeding with the offspring if you get one with better IVs, as you'll be more likely to pass on those perfects if there's more of them to go around.
Like, say you start out with a Ditto with 3 perfect IV's:
31/31/X/X/X/31
and an Ivysaur with perfect Defense and Sp. Def IV's:
X/X/31/X/31/X
give one of them destiny knot (and probably the other one give everstone to have a better chance of passing on the nature), and start breeding. The worst bred Pokemon will dodge all of the perfect IV's, but let's say you eventually get a Bulbasaur that got the HP and Attack IV's from Ditto and the Defense and Sp. Def IV's from Ivysaur:
31/31/31/X/31/X
You can now switch out the Ivysaur for the offspring and breed it with the Ditto. Again, have one of them hold the Destiny Knot.
Now, if the HP or Attack IV's are passed down, they will be perfect
regardless of what parent passes them down, and similarly, if the Sp. Att. IV is passed down from a parent, it will not be perfect. This is the IV you're going to have to happen upon by chance, and you'll likely get a Bulbasaur with all perfect except Sp. Att. (and that might be enough for you if you're going for a physical Venusaur).
Ideally you'd want a perfect Ditto because no matter what IV it gave to the child, it'd be perfect (and Ditto won't hold back a more perfect parent), but even with Friend Safari only 2 IV's are guaranteed perfect.
the odds of getting a perfect Ditto in the Friend Safari is: 32^4, which is about 1 in 1,000,000.
But getting one with 5 IV's is only 1 in 32,000, and getting one with 4 perfect IV's is around 1 in 1000.
Alternatively, if you have opposite gendered offspring with really good IV's (more than Ditto at least), you can breed them together and replace one or the other when you have a better child.
So let's say we go back to that Bulbasaur example and you manage to get a female with 4 IV's:
X/31/31/X/31/31
you'd replace Ditto with her (again, making sure you have the Destiny Knot on one of the Bulbasaur parents):
Male: 31/31/31/X/31/X
Female: X/31/31/X/31/31
At this point, Attack, Defense, and Sp. Def. are guaranteed to be perfect as long as they're passed on. The male can also pass on HP, and the Female can pass on Speed. Neither can pass on perfect Sp. Att. though, just like with the Ditto. Keep switching them out until you get parents with 5 perfect IV's each (they'll likely be the same). At that point, it's just luck of the draw, since 1/6th of the time you'll have the random bred IV be what you need to be random (in this case, Sp. Att.), and then it's a 1/32 chance of getting a perfect IV.
Which means the final odds of getting a perfect Bulbasaur from this would be 1 in 192 eggs, which is easy odds.
It takes a bit of know-how and luck, but breeding is so much more manageable (and kinda reminiscent of breeding in the real world) than it used to be.

Lumiose City generally feels botched/poorly playtested.
It's mainly the breaking free of the grid-based system. the hitboxes become a bit wonky until you realign on the grid. I've gotten stuck on doors sometimes because of this. luckily, it's easily fixed by using the D pad.
So it's not really just Lumiose. It's kinda everywhere that you can roller skate.

I started playing X yesterday. I'm wondering if I simply didn't notice since it's not a move I usually used, but it's incredibly odd that I can't use Stun Spore on a Pikachu or gras type. Did they change that in this generation, so that electric Pokemon can't be paralyzed anymore and gras types can't be affected by gras type status moves, like Leech Seed?
Pokemon Ami feels kind of weird too, especially making faces. Sometimes my Pokemon want to make some with me, sometimes not - and if it does, it usually doesn't recognize what I'm doing, heh.
Yes, grass Pokemon can't be hit with spore moves (so Thunder Wave will still work) or seeded, Ghost Pokemon can't be held in place, and Electric Pokemon can't be paralyzed no matter what (even Stun Spore won't work).
Also, beware of the fairy retyped Pokemon. If you use a dragon move and it doesn't work against a Pokemon, it's probably because it's become a fairy.
Like. Mr. Mime. Or Granbull.
Fuck those guys.
And I've yet to get the facial recognition thing in Amie to work. Luckily it's not a requirement to use Amie.

A thing I also wanted to ask but forgot at that time, did they make some of the genders incredibly rare or are they route locked or something? I'm asking because with all the Combees and the baby lions me and roomie combined fought, there was never a female Combee, nor a male baby lion. And we found quite a lot.
They're both pretty rare. I know Combee used to be 1:7 F:M, but they might have made it less. Litleo took forever to get a male.
