So yeah, I probably won't be that excited if I get any shinies this generation.

They're not all that common - most people are only finding one or two in their own games - it's just that some people have gone through all the previous gens without finding a single shiny.

That said, Gen. 7 will probably introduce some new gimmick to make up for shinies becoming more common - some kind of super-special colour alt. or something.

Hello, yes you called me?
I tipped every single guy, I let the dude take every photo and give 1000 to him each time and every poet too and every waiter. I just want to see one. A cool one.

Edit: I noticed another thing. Trainer Pokemon have a much better type coverage this time around. I fought a guy with a Machamp who had Stone Edge and Earthquake, who would have totally wrecked both Aegislash and Talonflame if it hit.

I wouldn't put any stock in people's claims about tipping = shinies, that's just a rumour without any substance to back it up - and to me it sounds way too much like: "Tapping the A button furiously makes a Pokeball more likely to catch a Pokemon!"

For the record my shiny Honedge showed up before I even had the chance to tip anyone.

Well, tipping has to do something.

Garchomp wants a Yache berry.

Wait, you can bring berries to a Battle Hall challenge? Dont they take the item away?

How I read it.
And until someone hacks the game open we'll never know for sure what the chances are or whether tipping helps.

And increasing the chances of shiny does NOT ruin the experience. Never catching one ever ruins the experience. 1/1300 if breeding with Masuda Method is not okay, and especially neither is 1/8000 if just playing normally. Heck, even when you do get a shiny it's likely to be a pokemon you'll never use, like graveller (which I got a shiny of this gen). And yet despite that I'll never use it, I struggled to keep it alive from the horde that was spamming magnitude, to catch it without running out of balls, this curveball out of nowhere that gave me even the slightest bit of happiness. And you know what's going to happen the next time I see a shiny graveller? I'm not gonna say "great job gamefreak ANOTHER shiny I'll never use", I'm gonna do all I can to catch it, too.

Never encountering an intentionally rare and superfluous feature ruins the game?

To evolve Inkay you have to hold the 3DS upsidedown as it levels up, my dad who works at nintendo told me.

Though I think tipping probably just boosts your fashion level which effects a lot of things (For example the guy who sells you kanto starter megastones lowers his price based on your fashion level) Maybe the shiny rate is effected by this too who knows.

If you never encounter a feature in a game, then it's as if that feature was never there at all.
An example, TAS runners can completely break Earthbound and glitch there way to the end, yet you don't play Earthbound and say it's buggy because you never experience what they do.
What if I played pokemon and never encountered any wild pokemon ever? Would I still classify it as a monster catching game?

Right so it's not hindering your experience.

Like you said some bugs don't matter because you won't find them without trying, the game isn't ruined because they exist. Find me a game without bugs and I'll blah blah something impossible.

I can see where you're coming from, you're jealous that other people have cool rare thing and you don't. I've never even found a shiny and I've played every generation and its Z version. Except you even got a sweet graveller that didn't explode on you. I don't understand that part cause Golem is cool.

Statisically impossible.

Shinies are implemented for supernerds with nothing better to do.
