Edit: Fishing rods are sweet now, you can pull in mobs using it. (I've only been doing it to this one cow so far though). I'm not sure if this'll stay or not.

Explored out to newly generated land to check out biomes.

Not anywhere as smooth a transition as I had expected. Edit: Better view.

That water expands out quite a distance, as well. As soon as I find more diamonds to mine more obsidian, I'll set up a sea base out here using portals as the entrance.

Using buckets of lava and water you can get a portal without diamonds.

I totally forgot about this, thanks. I'll do this once I find a suitable place to place a second portal. Currently sailing this newly discovered sea in hopes of good finds.

I had to mine for a good 10 miniutes to even get to the awesome open area. Then the rock I was standing on exploded.
