this is a series in which a land that was about to be destroyed was called "termina", I think you are getting way too hung up on dumb puns
To be honest, I never really liked the name "Termina" much either. It seems rather unimaginative compared to names like Koholint, Labrynna, and Holodrum. Even then, I still think Termina (a name that actually has some sort of remotely interesting meaning to it and sounds like something that could be taken seriously) is a better name than Lorule (which just sounds like a bad joke I'd hear out of the cartoon).

And frankly, ALttP's backstory was retconned with OoT. Ganondorf didn't accidentally happen upon the Sacred Realm with his band of thieves, he tailed Link and found the entrance in the Temple of Time, alone.
Plus, the backstory implies that he got the whole Triforce then and there, when he really just got a part of it and had to beat down Link and Zelda to get the others.
So I doubt Nintendo is too worried about smudging the truth of the ending of ALttP.
Just because they've retconned stuff before doesn't make retconning okay. Retroactive continuity is a lazy escape method that a writer resorts to when he's written himself into a corner and isn't clever enough to find a better way out. It alone may not be enough to ruin a story, but it is never a good thing.
You could argue that maybe Hyrule's historical records aren't necessarily all that accurate, which might address the confusion between those two games, but they already royally screwed up with their explanation of how Ocarina of Time leads into A Link to the Past. I've already gone over that, though, as has everyone else.
