That freaking mission where you have to get rid of all the goop within a short time limit. Why does Mario die when he fails?

I remember that mission in the village with the fire goop (the pipe to it was on the Shine Gate... the stage name escapes me) where you lose FLUDD and have to make your way through the town by absurdly complicated and roundabout maze methods to get to FLUDD and the mayor. I hated that mission.

I liked the secret ones, like the the sandcastle one on the beach.

They were a nice break from "use FLUDD to cross all gaps".

Some were a pain though.

I hated the lilypad levels though. Usually missed shit by just a little bit, and one of the times, I ran out of water.

Some of them weren't too bad. When you would go into the little secret areas (that cave in Bianco Hills, the tower in Ricco Harbor, etc.) and Shadow Mario snatches FLUDD... at first they rustled me off, but I was always really really good at getting around without really using FLUDD that much anyway, so...

also god yes the lilypad and toxic water level(s) were awful.

I can barely remember those. Can you tell me why they are so hard?

You had to take like three fucking hours to do them and there were terrible mechanics. If you took too long it sank and if you went too fast you crashed and died and you had to collect coins while floating through an obstacle course and ughghgghhg.

Remember the boat ride in the volcano? Almost nobody ACTUALLY got the blue coins over the lava? Sort of like that, except about 100x more of a pain in the booty.

NSMB U is best mario game

(Stuff irrelevant to my post)

Hold up a minute, he said best Mario game in the 'new' brand. It may be a fantastic game and a solid launch title, but that in no way means it holds up to the rest of the Mario games. It's pretty great, yeah, but I have no idea about OA's opinion on how it stacks up against, say, Sunshine. (Choosing sunshine for my hypothetical because I haven't played it)

If we're going by 2D Mario titles alone, my list would go something like

-Super Mario World
-Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
-Super Mario Bros 3
-NSMB U
-the rest are kind of hard to rank but NSMB 2 is at the bottom

If we include the 3D Mario titles, however

-Super Mario Galaxy 2
-Super Mario World
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Super Mario Bros 3
-NSMBU
-Super Mario 64
-and the rest

The same reason he dies whenever he loses a race against a space monkey.

The crushing feeling of failure obviously caused heart failure.

Not to mention the trip you have to take just to get there. It's times like those I wish Delfino Yoshis were more waterproof.
