Btw what the FUCK is bloom and why do people hate it
Bloom is a cookie-cutter special effect abused by game developers and animators to add a supposedly more realistic feel to pictures by making them blurry beyond all recognition. When it's done tastefully, it can add an otherworldly feel to a scene, else it makes it laughably ugly. The bloom used in the preview pictures of WWHD are not tasteful at all. The sky glows so much it hides the top of every building and tree in Windfall. This is the opposite of realistic and it looks awful. It's like they smeared grease all over the lens. You can't even distinguish objects in the distance with that ridiculous sky. Compare it to Twilight Princess's bloom, which was much better: only the most illuminated surfaces glow, which actually is realistic if exaggerated. It gave those scenes a certain atmosphere and contributed to the game's nostalgia and the Twilight Realm's unsettling alien vibe. WWHD's bloom says "hurr durr hd means desaturate+lens flares+bloom there you go" and adds nothing to the game.

It has its place, like fire. Imagine a game where all movement at any speed caused it to appear in flames. Sort of takes the fun out of fire.

I just imagined a normal Zelda game when suddenly there's a few odd things on fire.

A flaming butterfly would be bitchin'.

Notice I said odd. Fire Keese are a given and will appear any time your day needs ruining.

I'm talking about more ambient features, like strolling through a forest and then there's a tree with flaming nuts.

No. Ember seeds don't count. And go buy the oracle games on the eShop you bastards.

Ahaha, that would be amazing. Imagine going to the fishing place in OoT and seeing the fish on fire. Underwater.

Bloom isn't proper lightning, it's a lazy effect that should have died last gen.

I'm okay with there being bloom while you're on the ocean.

Because I don't know if any of you have ever actually been on the ocean on a sunny day, but the light is so bright reflecting off the ocean that you are basically squinting the whole time.

They can maybe tone it down on land, but for the ocean it's fine.

i dunno if you've ever looked at something really dark on a really bright day, especially framed against the sky
but bloom is bodaciously exactly what happens in that scenario

and that's basically what's happening in the game also, though they also have the fog effect the original game had from distances, which makes it look kind of worse

but it's hardly an effect that should have died

That's not what bloom is though, it emulates an artefact that you see through cameras, not the real world.

so now you're mad an effect created by cameras is being used in a game, which you know, has a camera?
