They've been moving Shadow out of "augh my past hnk maria" and into what some his dialogue in SA2 made him out to be, exactly as egotistical as Sonic but a massive fucking smug prick.

So he'll probably be that.

Metal Sonic won't be delegated to just one appearance either, he'll definitely be recurring.

So Shattered Crystal is 2D only? wow, we've been seriously lacking in 2D Sonic, it's refreshing to see them go back to the series' roots

If it was truly following the cycle, then hype should be building

The updated cycle is as follows:
    -Game is announced, Sonic fans have high hopes, while bodaciously everyone ever doesn't care because Sonic
    -More gameplay and info are released, and tragically, don't seem so terrible
    -Reviewers find stupid shit to complain about (WHY ARE HIS EYES GREEN)
    -Game is released, and reviewers begrudgingly admit it was fun, but still give it a mediocre rating because Sonic
    -Sonic fans are overjoyed that the series is "finally back"
    -Nobody talks about it two months later and is never mentioned until the next Sonic game is announced
