AWKWARD ZOMBIE

The Platinum-Microsoft collaboration game Scalebound has been canceled. I'm both angry and disappointed. MS needs to do seriously work on actually delivering announced games. Their track record right now is bad, what with Fable Legends, Phantom Dust, and now Scalebound all off the table. Cuphead is still on its way; It just got delayed so long because a bunch of idiots whined about it being just a boss rush (In a genre where bosses are usually the best part of the game), and there are other games coming, but they really need to rebuild trust. They need to have games actually release, and those games need to be good. They also need to take a less hands-on approach when people are making games for them. Halo Wars 2 may be a product of that kind of hand-off approach, given that it's shaping up to be decent game that's releasing on time. They could learn from that and rebuild trust from there.

Scalebound was a Platinum games title, right? Werent the only games they released with no problems the Bayonetta games? Last I checked, all their other projects ended up unfinished or extremely lackluster.

Save for Metal Gear Rising, but you know, Kojima.

The only truly bad game they've made recently was that TMNT one, which recently got delisted from all digital storefronts. Their Legend of Korra and Transformers games had solid gameplay, but my understanding is that Korra was a very short experience with not a lot of replayability, and Transformers had an loot and item rarity and crafting system that may have been interesting for some, but for others it could've been considered a middling attempt to add some kind of depth beyond the combat.

Microsoft has micromanagement problems, pun not intended. They need to learn to take a hands-off approach and let other developers work their magic. They should seriously look into how the collaboration between 343 Industries and Creative Assembly has managed to produce Halo Wars 2, which like I said previously is sizing up to be a decent game that's releasing on-time.

One of their main problems lies in courting Japanese developers to make games for the Xbox One, or maybe even asking them to multiplayer instead of PS4 only. I think some of the problem, aside from their tendency to micromanage, may be that Microsoft is uneasy about working with developers from a country in which all of their consoles have sold poorly, and previous exclusive games like Lost Odyssey didn't give them nearly as big of a boost as they thought it would. They may feel burned because of that. But they need to try again, hopefully after several previously-announced games like Sea of Thieves and Crackdown have been released.

Platinum also made The Wonderful 101 recently, it didn't sell much but it's an excellent game. Transformers Devastation has amazingly deep gameplay and very varied weapons (especially the guns) but not a lot of variety as far as enemies go, and is still pretty short

I'm honestly just really sad about Scalebound.

On the bright side, I no longer have any reason to buy an Xbox One now.

Good grief, Nintendo did it, they actually delivered with their presentation! I am legitimately excited for the Switch! Not only did they announce titles we were hyped for, but they delivered news we actually wanted to HEAR!

I want a Switch, Nintendo has sold me on a Switch.
