So, FFXV is going to be the first NEW game I've bought in like...ever, really. I think the last one was KH2, and I got that one the christmas after it cam out, so I think I was almost a year behind at that point.

I have no delusions about this being a perfect game. I am prepared for the final fifth of the story to basically be FF7/8-style hallway boss rush. Excited to learn about food collecting, as I love acquiring piles of junk. But we managed to find the deluxe edition of the game (extra cosmetics that I don't care about, but it also comes with the artbook case and a hard copy of the Kingsglaive movie) for only like, $15 more than the regular game. So we can watch the movie (which you are correct, sets up most of the "what, why" story references in the game), and then dig into the game when it gets here this afternoon.

I was into this for the drastic departure from FF13 that I was promised. Sloth was into it because he likes the mechanics, so we decided to buy ourselves a christmas present and drop almost $70 after tax and shipping (because like hell we're driving into downtown of a hilly metropolitan area during christmas shopping season, while people are still adjusting to driving in snow). It was a tossup between FF15 and Last Guardian, because we were really interested in both, but after hearing about how Last Guardian is having some issues with running smoothly atm, we decided to wait on that until a few patches were released.

Excite for sometime within the next 4 hours.

Just a fair warning, when they say don't go out onto the roads at night.

DON'T GO OUT ONTO THE ROADS AT NIGHT.

I will consider this, disregard the warning, and instantly regret it, I'm sure. People, or monsters? (if it's possible to answer without spoiling a story point)

Well now you ruined the ill-advised surprise. (For real though, thanks for the advice not to push my luck.)

Also, cross-post from the movie thread, because of the tie-in, but just watched Kingsglaive, and Sloth and I are highly disappointed that Nyx was not the protagonist of the game. He was the best protagonist I've ever seen for a FF thing. Also, intermixed with the dramatic bits, there were these brief moments that were like a game of "Count the references to previous FFs"

Mother.
Fucking.
Ultros.

World of Tanks just added the Swedish tech tree. Which means Swedish tanks up the wazoo in the lower tiers.

Insert Swedish Buzz Lightyear and "Sweden. Sweden Everywhere."

Just beat The Last Guardian. Probably my favorite game this year, but it certainly does have its problems. I completely understand if people find it too frustrating, as the command feature can feel very unresponsive at times. Something that really bothered me is that it feels like some gameplay mechanics never actually got used. I feel that if these mechanics had actually been utilized, the game would've felt less repetitive. Still, the game did a phenomenal job of getting me emotionally invested in Trico and curious about its world. As I got near the end of the game, I was worried that it would end with a ton of loose ends, but everything seemed to make sense, and I like the direction it took. It's funny; I found the narration in this game rather annoying since it always seemed to just repeat what was going on, but the last several minutes of the game said a lot without any words.

The most heartwarming game I've ever played. Get it. Play it. Share it with your friends. Share it with your family. Share it with your younger siblings or offspring. If you don't have those, go grab some kids off the street and share it with them. Or don't, people might get upset if you do that, I dunno.

I've been having fun with the Titanfall 2 multiplayer. The campaign was very good though, I might go back to it to get all the collectables and achievements.

Grab kids of the streets, pair them with mythical creatures and create your own army.

It's for a good cause.

I'm pretty sure that's the basic concept of a Pokemon league. Or like a Final Fantasy Metal Gear Solid mashup.

I mean that's exactly the backstory for Final Fantasy VIII.

That explanation is missing time travelling witches, aliens, space stations and not realizing you forgot your whole childhood.
