Location: UK. Maybe. I'unno.
So I just beat Final Fantasy XV.
I thought everything was amazing at the start but I can say I didn't really enjoy much of the later story.
And the Final Battle.
Geez why was it so EASY? I had more trouble with the freaking level 42 Behemoth King outside of the final area than I did whatsoever with the final boss.
I was playing on Normal too and I was level 53 during it, with the recommended level being 45.

And why is the final quest only recommended level 45? I was expecting to have the story go on so much longer but after chapter 9 you just go on a mad no stop dash through chapters 9-15.

I'm not kidding when I say I spent more time on Pokemon Sun's story than I did on Final Fantasy XVs.
I sidequested on FFXV. A LOT. And still only just matched my time on Pokemon Sun, with both FFXV and Pokemon Sun at 44 hours playtime.

I just feel empty after finishing the story. And what happened to Ignis, Prompto and Gladio after that final battle?

Edit: Nevermind, I think I know what happened to them.

*sigh*

So uh, are we not gonna discuss the VGA's and PSX?

Overwatch won Game of the Year, well deserving of it, I'd say.

The Last Of Us Part II was confirmed, and PSX essentially lost their shit.

Ace Combat 7 is confirmed, and it will have VR support.

Akuma is confirmed for Street Fighter 5

KNACK 2 BAYBEEEE, WE DID IT, HERE WE GOOOOOOOOO

Another Danganronpa is in the works.

Marvel vs. Crapcom Infinite--HOLY SHIT IT'S X

Footage of the first game in the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy! The game actually looks pretty sweet!

Destiny has a new event for Christmas called the Dawning, also the return of SRL with new maps, also Strike Scoring, new gear, ornaments, and the return of the infamous Icebreaker!

Well THAT came out of nowhere...uh....Parappa the Rapper remastered, huh.(Patapon and Loco Roco are also getting HD treatment)

That should be everything, I mostly kept in mind what I've seen members of the forum take interest and enjoyment from, I know the Fighting game thread is gonna get a kick over the new Marvel Vs. Capcom, I'm actually tempted to get it just to try out X. Of course the game I'm most excited to play is the Crash Bandicoot remake, but I always wanted to get into fighting games, so who knows?

Last Guardian is the cutest and prettiest thing in existence. It has a giant feather puppy, 11/10 GOTY.

In all seriousness, I know people have been complaining about how frustrating it is, but I'm not having much trouble so far. Trico's not terribly bright and communicating with it can be tough, but it really feels like dealing with a shy, clingy animal. For me, the realism of Trico's behavior really helps with the immersion and actually makes the game more enjoyable, although its shift from something out of a Sarah McLachlan commercial to your bestest friend was oddly quick. If I had one complaint, it's that the narration often feels intrusive and unnecessary.

EDIT: Just had to record this. Did I mention Trico is adorable?

I know bodaciously nothing about that game aside from hearing people say its name for the past decade, but now I absolutely need it.

In non-new-game news I've been suffering through the final postgame dungeon of Etrian Odyssey 4

Fuck that final floor to hell and back. I've got the chemicals to make the superboss not bodaciously (like actually bodaciously) impossible, but I've still got to beat up two more dragons in control of the elements of the world, and then grind up 20 levels, and then fight the eldritch demon dragon released from beating up the other dragons to make his weapons to beat up a giant cicada.

Atlus you're killing me here

Dear god, that MUSIC
THANK YOU

Okay, got to the part of The Last Guardian where the command mechanic is introduced. Starting to see where all the complaints of frustration are coming from. Still, the architecture is breathtaking, the atmosphere is splendid, and Trico is just so daisies adorable.

Team ICO's always seemed like they preferred to make their animals behave realistically, even if that means they don't obey the player all the time. I can understand any frustration but in a game like Last Guardian it seems like it'd be more...tolerable, at least. And even if Agro didn't always listen to you in Colossus, she saved your booty multiple times. Try fighting some of the colossi withOUT her.

Assuming you're referring to the less-than-pointless video thing I posted, I feel I should mention that I linked to the original source of it, without needless editing to make it sound like it's coming out of cheap radio speakers and reverberating through the 2D tunnels, in the video description.

Y-y'know. Just... just in case you didn't already notice.

Final Fantasy XV, Day 1!
Talk about a huge dump of info, the game seems to be set after some movie I believe, that sets up the story for Final Fantasy XV, or as I like to call it, Final Fantasy, Road Trip! Oh well, the tutorial's pretty basic to teach you the standards of the combat system, and the lore guide is kind of...there, yeesh, why not just create a fancy opening cutsce--

Oh wait, I didn't give two shits about Battleborn's lore, oh well!

The combat's fine, it takes getting use to, but I've pulled some pretty sweet blocks here and there, and with your buddies backing you up, it's really good fun to parry an enemy and deliver a link strike!

I've already gathered some minor resources, like food and some minor crafting materials, and I've started to amass baby's first "RPG starter" kit.

I just finished the first miniboss of the game, he wasn't that hard, it just requires you know when to dodge its attacks. Now to see what happens next!

My Starbound mod ended up becoming the week's most popular Steam Workshop mod over night. Weird.

So, FFXV is going to be the first NEW game I've bought in like...ever, really. I think the last one was KH2, and I got that one the christmas after it cam out, so I think I was almost a year behind at that point.

I have no delusions about this being a perfect game. I am prepared for the final fifth of the story to basically be FF7/8-style hallway boss rush. Excited to learn about food collecting, as I love acquiring piles of junk. But we managed to find the deluxe edition of the game (extra cosmetics that I don't care about, but it also comes with the artbook case and a hard copy of the Kingsglaive movie) for only like, $15 more than the regular game. So we can watch the movie (which you are correct, sets up most of the "what, why" story references in the game), and then dig into the game when it gets here this afternoon.

I was into this for the drastic departure from FF13 that I was promised. Sloth was into it because he likes the mechanics, so we decided to buy ourselves a christmas present and drop almost $70 after tax and shipping (because like hell we're driving into downtown of a hilly metropolitan area during christmas shopping season, while people are still adjusting to driving in snow). It was a tossup between FF15 and Last Guardian, because we were really interested in both, but after hearing about how Last Guardian is having some issues with running smoothly atm, we decided to wait on that until a few patches were released.

Excite for sometime within the next 4 hours.
