I did it.

It finally happened.

I finally got my first ever hatemail.

Someone added me on Steam just to tell me how much I was hated, complete with a surplus of profanities and derogatory, hateful remarks.

I am finally a real gamer.

I mean I was once told to uninstall a game because I was bad with a character in a Bot game, but I don't think I've ever actually gotten Death Threats and the like. At least, not directly.

I used to get really toxic in multiplayer games a few years ago and I'd get hatemail all the time. I'm a lot more chill now when I play though, and I'm actually a lot better at the games that I play too. I'd always blame others for us doing bad when really I sucked too.

I was doing Dark Souls III invasion. I found the host AFK at the bonfire, so I decided to sit peacefully on the other side in clear view.
Next thing I know, fifteen minutes pass and I'm being attacked. I back up and try to wave at the host while being as pacifistic as possible.
Host was not interested in a friendly encounter.
Host died.

Host also pointed out that I apparently have 225 hours in Dark Souls III. I had no idea.

So, to add fuel to the already sizable dumpster fire that is Metroid Prime Federation Force, it turns out that the final boss is a brainwashed Samus Aran. I'm not kidding. Here's the proof (again, spoilers). Nintendo has made it clear that they don't give a fuck about the Metroid series or what its fans want anymore. If they ever make a Metroid game for the NX, the thing had better be one big Goddamn apology for both Other M and this shit.

They took down a really nice fangame called ASMR: Return of Samus. It was a remake of Metroid 2 that was in the works for ten years. And as soon as it came out, Nintendo slapped it with a DMCA, which, in all honesty, it was entirely in its rights to do... but on its 30th Anniversary, Id say that's another pretty big slap in the face to Metroid fans.

Did the same to a Pokemon fangame that was 9-10 years in the making.

This is the same company who thought Castlevania: Judgement was a good idea. Hell, they thought fukkin' Bomberman Act Zero was a good idea.

:/ You know, one day, one day, big name companies that do video games are going to realize that the cheddar they make is not tied up with good business decisions, although that certainly helps a good product keep going for awhile, but rather, the raw talent that comes with it.

Rare, Hideo Kojima, even Minecraft, and alot of the orginal developers that made the greats really do come to mind, because as soon as they left, its generally agreed the games their studios made began to suffer :/

I mean, look at the new indie groups popping up these days, they remind me of the same groups that made games under the supervision of the big companies :/ I mean, folks like Grant Kirkhope, David Wise, when they and their compatriots left Rareware after its acquisition by Microsoft, the name suffered. When they got back together as Playtonic and started working on a new game, you see the talent. That cannot be copied by big companies, and I wish they'd realize that instead of doing stupid things, like chopping the golden gooses head off like Konami did with Hideo, theyd find a pop flyin' medium more often. :/

Although, knowing what a machine corporate greed is, I dont expect them to really do anything about it anytime soon.

I recently learned about Prey 2 and the way that Zenimax used hostile takeover tactics that wound up canceling the game. Now a completely different game has the Prey moniker, and previous dirtbag tactics from Zenimax aside I think that the new title from Arkane looks much more deserving of the Prey name. Prey 2 was set to be some manner of open-world bounty-hunting game, and was in development hell long enough to where it would've come out on PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC as usual. I'm not sure that it would've made big waves in an ocean already full of open-world games. That, and I have a chance of actually finishing this game rather than petering out 70% of the way through since it seems to be focused and linear.

Eldritch was really fun for a while!! I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys roguelikes. I'm really looking forward to their new game, Slayer Shock, which has more of a Castlevania-themed world.
