That's pretty awesome, betrippin.

But recently, I have been really thinking about a story about Minecraft. Where as the Protagonist of everything in Minecraft, your character, awakens on an untouched realm, confused and clueless to where he is, or how he got there. For me, the whole story I'm thinking of basically explains some of the strange things, such as dungeons, the new mines, even the zombies and skeletons.

is the max block height going to be increased in 1.8, or are they saving that feature for 1.9?

Im gonna guess 1.8 and if Im right, what is it being increased to?

The world height is staying the same, Notch just made it easier for modders to change it

Thats what I meant

I meant the official version.

They said it would be released on the 12th

I WANT IT RELEASED ALREADY

EDIT: woops, didnt know that the pre-release was Notch approved. How do I make it work though?

I downloaded the jar file, but where do I put it?

This is a guide we use on my server. Process is the same to use the pre-release 1.8.

How to downgrade Minecraft
Download an appropriate version of minecraft.jar and then...

Windows:
Go to Start button > Run... > type %AppData% > Roaming > .minecraft > bin > then replace the minecraft.jar in this folder with the downloaded one.

Linux:
Go to Terminal > nautilus ~/.minecraft/bin/ > replace minecraft.jar in this directory with the downloaded one.

Mac / OS X:
Go to Finder > Go to Menu > Home > open Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin > replace minecraft.jar in this folder with the downloaded one.

I love the abandoned mines and ravines. One thing that bugged me about minecraft was the caves were just tunnels, so setting up a mine station was kind of useless, but now, I have a giant ravine and an abandon mineshaft merged together, and making a mine cart system will be extremely helpful now.
