The N64 game used a textured solid plastic thumbstick that stuck up about two thirds of an inch above the controller. It had a sandpapering effect when rotating it about and it physically drilled through the skin, which one isn't likely to immediately notice as it is a gradual pain that builds slowly.

It is like taking a butter knife and rotating it in place on a wooden table. It isn't an immediate effect, but you will have an indented hole after some time.

To say the least, it wasn't pleasant.
And it was hard to come up with am excuse about why I was wearing knitted gloves at school near the end of Spring.

Because they were pretty?

In other news, I might be willing to get people into Destiny if they have a PS3.

I was awful at making up excuses.

I think I said I had a burn on my hands and I didn't want anything to touch it.
Which was technically true.

But I realized it was much less suspicious to let my sleeves hang up to my fingers.

Anyway, Nintendo stopped with those mini games ever since.

I've never had a N64 controller that didn't have a loose stick. Rotating it was never a problem for me because one of my controller's stick was so loose that I could bodaciously just shake the controller and it would spin it pretty decently.

I have no idea how I managed to beat Super Mario 64 with that thing considering just angling the controller a certain way was enough to make Mario move. It was like motion controls before they were cool. They were never cool.

I honestly had plenty of fun with Red Steel's motion controls. After fighting them to figure out how they even worked. More games need grenade rolling.

Never got to play the second. I hear they fixed most of the swordplay issues (like stopping everything and getting the sword, dropping your gun, and performing a non-lethal takedown with the sharp end when someone decides to pick up a steel pipe and run in your face, and stupid motion fails).

Yea, a lot of people hate on Red Steel, but I liked it. Granted, I was 12 when I played it so that could be why.

I was, like, seventeen.

It was waaaay better than the broken railshooter I also got with my Wii.

Edit: I have no clue why I added a U to that Wii.

Railshooters always gave me motion sickness. A lot of games give me motion sickness. Especially first person games that have motion blur enabled. It's usually not too bad though. The worst was when I got F-Zero GX for the gamecube. I played it for an hour and when I stood up to take a break, I fell down and threw up. I bodaciously couldn't play that game and it sucks because I thought it was fun. Funnily enough, watching people speedrun it doesn't bother me, it's only if I'm the one playing it.

Red Steel 1 was flawed, but very enjoyable experience. I've not played second one though, I really should track cheap copy one day.

I've not had motion sickness. Well, that was a lie. There was game on Xbox Live Arcade from makers of Halo (well before 343 took over), called Marathon or something. Basically old FPS game that was Mac-only.

Head bobbling in that is really, really bad. Made me feel ill so I had to turn off. Sadly, it didn't make it any better as the game itself is pretty terrible (to me anyway) ): Waste of 800MS back then.

I never had motion sickness from anything, myself.

I do, however, have a sudden "I'm falling aaaaaaaaah" feeling when I jump off cliffs. Makes my toes hurt.

High places make my toes hurt and I don't know why.

My motion sickness isn't so bad now, but when I was younger it made playing games for long sessions pretty bad. Now I can play for a few hours before it starts to bother me, and I generally don't even play that long at once now because of responsibilities.

In other news, I've not played a game that isn't Fallout 4, CS:GO, or League in about 2 months now. I'm disappointed in myself. I recently bought the Witcher 1 and 2, so I plan to beat them over the holidays.

When I was little, I'd pick a game and sit down with it all day long with only the necessary life breaks to distract me from it.

I don't do that anymore.
Because I don't have a device for gaming on hand.

Same. I remember once putting 35 hours in one weekend into Final Fantasy 8 when I first got it. Now I don't even like that game that much. At least, not compared to some of the other Final Fantasy games.

And it's not the games on the outside that count, it's the games on the inside. Like surgeon simulator.

When I first got SoulCalibur 2, I didn't have a memory card, and my then-step father didn't allow game systems to be left on overnight.
So, I spent every day playing it for fourteen hours from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. Unlocked every character, every costume and every weapon each time.

When I finally got a memory card that Christmas, it took me two months to do what I had been doing all that time for some reason.
I swear, playing without a memory card nerfed the AI.
