secondly, for people who actually care about the games, who have nostalgia for them, who have an appreciation for the originals, and even people who care about video games being well preserved as they were for the future, this is pretty nice. proper emulation is hard. it's nice to have something that's closer to the NES than just grabbing an emulator off the internet.

bodaciously admitting it's just for nostalgia bait rather than actually doing something with the original games

You still fail to explain how anything mentioned was wrong in any way

Oh and I forgot to respond to this hilarious statement

Awesome, go ahead and waste your cheddar just to spite one person based on their own opinion, you're so cool and edgy

I beat Super Mario 3D Land and now I have to tackle the challenge levels

also the world naming conventions are really weird in this game for example World Bowser-Train and World Star-2

I'd be more concerned with when you die on the 26th challenge of Mystery House Marathon and have to go through them all over again to get to the one you died on
But Champion's Road is quite the harsh mistress

(which mind you is the one we should all collectively still be mad about because it was 60 dollars, pure emulation on a disk at that price, not even particularly good emulation, and passed around as a limited edition. meanwhile this is fifteen bucks and pretty well emulated.)

Actually it was $30 and came with a soundtrack CD and was the only way to get the SNES versions of the games. Still about $10 more than buying the NES Virtual Console versions, but not a bad deal. Main problem was it sold out in a day and anyone who wanted it had to pay double or triple to get it.

my little brother bought it brand new, day 1, because he expected it to be something different and it super was not, it was a full 60 bucks. like just the biggest bullshit nintendo ever pulled.

I remember all the signs at walmart and gamestop's website had it for $30, besides which no Wii games were sold at $60 without some kind of hardware attached.

Where did you buy it, because that's weird as shit.

Sorry guys, one quick last post here because I need to point out misinformation.

Because they can actually enhance things instead of selling the same thing with a different skin?

You can do that with an emulator too.

Not very much. You would have to adhere to the constraints of the old hardware that's being emulated rather than the freedom of the new hardware the game is ported to. The most change I've seen in emulated games is removing flash effects.

Apart from graphical filters and different sound engines, the coolest thing I've seen through emulation was adding 3D depth to NES games, like so:

Framerate kinda sucks at the beginning but it gets better
(it did involve adding a voxel engine to the source code of the NES though so yeah)

Not really. Dolphin has no qualms about rendering Gamecube games at 4K resolution for instance.

It seems to me that you're complaining about the wrong thing. You wanted an HD remake or something instead of a straight up re-release. Whether they used emulation or not is irrelevant to that.

Also quote for justice ;3 I didnt think me talking to Syobon about this would balloon something up this bad when there is in fact Dark Souls.

Dark Souls people. Fun as hell game I discovered 8===D Such easiness and nonthreateningness. I especially liked meeting Giantdad up in Blighttowns swamp. He was the one who kindly gave me directions to death ;3 I was lost see. The giant trolls with clubs and .. whatever the hell those growling things were werent enough.

I need to bring my TV to campus so there's a third screen to use, but as soon as that happens my roommates and I are going to have a three-way race to see who can beat Dark Souls first, starting blind. Should be fun.

Well, for one thing, that's a freeware emulator, and 4K is a graphical enhancement and doesn't change anything else.

I think you're mistaken, my use of "enhancement" does not simply refer to graphical enhancement. Perhaps I should have specified that ports add more features than pure emulation can.
For example, take Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. It's not considered a 3D remake, it's considered a New 3DS port. However, it adds stereoscopic 3D functionality (which could be considered a graphical enhancement), along with StreetPass functionality and compatibility with the Shulk Amiibo, plus an extra gallery/sound test. This is how I'm trying to distunguish between a port and a remake. A port can be a re-release, add extra features, and still not be considered a remake.

You said an emulator is limited by the original hardware. That is demonstrably false. (though it may depend on the specifics of the emulator, however it's explicitly stated that the Eclipse Engine intends to run the source code natively on the actual hardware, so that isn't a concern).

As for your other point, you can edit the ROMs your emulator runs to add whatever feature you can think of.

I'm sorry but I have to say this again. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Please educate yourself on the topic before posting. The issue you have with what Capcom has done has nothing to do with emulation.
