on this episode of Game Grumps, Arin continues to think that "immersive" means "engrossing", because holy shit did he honestly just say that Tetris is more immersive than Skyrim

Yeah and when I do show up I fit into your carefully crafted holes that you made for me so well.

Thank you, Arin, for telling us that most people's perception of immersion is wrong and doesn't exist.

I really think they should stop doing GG because just leads to people getting upset all the time. Quite frankly, a notable portion fan base is pretty awful (no one here), but that's really not their fault and it will never go away even if the show stops.

On the other hand, Arin and Jon always make one-off comments that they haven't thought out or don't fully explain at the time, which they catch a lot of flak for when they generally aren't as bad as people think (though sometimes their still bad). I don't know anything about Skyrim, but I remember when he said he thought Metroid: Other M was awesome and then he latter clarified he meant that the story was bad, but the the engine would make a great Mega Man. Which is fine-nothing is wrong with the engine-but that wasn't conveyed in the original point, because it was a one-off comment Arin didn't put any real thought into. Jon Suffers from this more often, which is why he's often called "dumb." They aren't particularly fast in their humor, and generally work better with scripts.

When I watch Sequalities or a JonTron review, I generally get their points because they have sat and thought about what they want to say. When I watch Game Grumps I can't have no clue what they mean or can't see their argument because they haven't prepared one. And then they just dissolve into laughing and race jokes, and it gets animated by people who aren't them. Not that I can animate.

Did he really say he liked Other M for the sole reason that it would be a great engine for something that is not Metroid at all

I love Arin, but god is he hard to agree with at times.

I really just need to stop listening to Egoraptor talk about games. I get unnecessarily bothered listening to him while he's clearly stuck in his 1980's mentality about games.

I mean, he clearly is of the mindset that gaming peaked sometime before the fifth generation.

"GAMES SHOULDN'T NEED ANY TEXT TO TELL PLAYERS WHAT TO DO"

but ego don't you think that text might be useful in getting across ideas more complex than "run left and jump/shoot"

"NO IT'S WRONG"

I think about that "No tutorials" thing and I feel like its a novel idea but then I think of shit like the marteria system from FF7 or the Styles system from DMC3/4 and I just think "how would you even do that."

"I hate Dark Souls, it thinks so lowly of me cus' it tells me how to hold my shield up."

Complex games are either impossible or would take way too long to learn without tutorials. Actually for example the Starcraft II campaign gradually introduces mechanics through gameplay and it basically takes the entire campaign to teach you the basics. And then you try multiplayer and get completely decimated.

they don't know shit about game design, one of the main reasons I stopped watching Game Grumps.
