At the end of the game you find a temple which is said to be the cause of it all.
You walk into it and suddenly you're playing WoW.

Lorkhan only got killed by other gods. Vivec could be cut with a normal sword. He was powerful, but not god-level in my opinion.

He was powerful enough to submerge the entirety of Morrowind to drive off Akaviri invaders, somehow without harming any of it's inhabitants. At the time of the Nerevarine though, he had lost much of his power containing Dagoth Ur and preventing Lorkhan from falling on the world.

Chim ain't the kind of shit you can fake, though. Frankly it just makes more sense for there to be a bunch of multiracial idiots running around Tamriel for little to no reason, leave this godlike destiny stuff out of it.

He still lost his power over time though. Gods don't lose power like batteries, that just makes them very powerful mortals.

It wouldn't be a "true" CHIM that grants super power over reality. More a shadow of it. You wouldn't have a god-like destiny, it was just chance that you got it. The story would revolve around trying to find out who is doing it and why. Maybe they think something is coming that will need a bunch of people who achieved CHIM to stop. Maybe they're trying to find how achieve true CHIM themselves. Lots of possibilities and chances to further explain the metaphysics in the lore.

There's also the issue with reincarnation and immortality of mortals (You heard me). There's the Dragonborn (from the DLC) who was able to chill out in Apocrypha for thousands of years when everyone thought he was dead, the hero from Oblivion who apparently became the Daedric Prince of Madness, and Talos (civil war aside).

There are multiple ways to go about the "mortal man becoming more than just mortal man" issue without going full out.

He didn't 'lose' his power (my bad for wording that wrongly) though, he was just also using it at that time for other things, one of which was holding back another god.

In TES VI you'll only be able to play as a human and everything is much more linear and straight foreward with a lot less to explore.

More linear and straight forward than it already is? :psyduck:

A visual novel ES game might actually be super neat on like the 3DS or something. No real focus on combat, more on story.

Also the next game should take place just after Skyrim, when the Thalmor and Empire start fighting again. You're captured as a war criminal by the Thalmor, tossed onto a boat, and shipped to the Summerset Isles. You escape the ship with the help of an Emperial spy, and you're tossed into Valenwood and Elsweyr. You work to take down the Thalmor in Valenwood, and stop their movement into Elsweyr and Cyrodiil, by raising a rebellion with the Bosmer. This is intertwined with your foiling of their plot to destroy all of Man by removing Talos from power.

That plan would have about as much a chance at actually working as the apparent plan we have now to silence all religious types in order to stop them from being obnoxious.

Well the Thalmor's current plan is to unmake nirn (the material world), betting on the fact that they are actually direct descendants from the gods and men are not, so that they reobtain their lost divinity. So it would actually be an improvement.

From what I understand, Talos is apparently holding Nirn together or keeping something out of Nirn. He's powered by belief itself. If the Thalmor take out all Talos worship, he'll lose his power, and Nirn might be destroyed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't becoming a god in TES something like "act like a god until you become one"?
