Anyways, I don't think I'll be getting Platinum, as I haven't finished Pearl and there doesn't seem to be much different that makes me want to spend £30 on it.

I named all of the characters in pearl, and my pokemanz after characters in GTAIV.

For example, I have a Machamp called Brucie.

My Empoleon's name is Waterflier. It was Icecheeper when it was a Piplup but then I realized that just because it was a penguin it wasn't necessarily Ice type. Duh.

I've always named my Pokemon - I feel referring to a Pokemon by it's species name disrespectful (kinda like calling a person 'human' instead of by name).

I don't give names referencing gods or other games or anything, I usually come up with names based on the attributes of the individual Pokemon.

Some of my names:
Steelix - Oblique (based on the angular projections of Steelix skin)
Staraptor - Astray ('astra' = star, 'stray' = flee)
Feraligatr - Dorothy ('Toto'(dile) is the name of Dorothy's dog in 'Wizard of Oz')

Of course sometimes I think of a 'normal' name that suits them so I go with that:
Lucario - Lulu
Magnezone - Magnus
Charizard - Charlie
