But you'd have to do it yourself, and 90% of console gamers have never done that before. This is important because if there's no audience for proper games on this, no one will make them or at least go cross platform to PC.

My Wii has an SD card, as does my 3DS, and all 360's need an external hard drive.

Besides which, there are plenty of people who have used a flash drive or a USB hard drive, and those are pretty much as simple as plug and play, especially with the right drivers already on the system.

I don't see this being a big hurdle for gamers to jump.

I thought SD cards weren't confirmed. External hard drives are an accessible option but they're usually too slow to run games off (plus there's only USB), so you'd need to switch around data a lot every time you want to play different games. Also, if you need to buy peripherals the cheap tag kind of fades a bit.

As far as I know, they don't have an SD slot. Was mostly making the point that that's a form of additional memory storage for the Wii and 3DS that gamers need (most casual gamers will never fill the 512MB that the Wii has, but the 3DS needs an SD card to function, and many will upgrade at some point).

So it's something that many gamers have put up with, and the ones who haven't aren't going to be all "HOW DOES I HARD DRIVE?", especially since this isn't necessarily going to be as complex as a PC, especially for the people who aren't going to dabble farther than downloading and playing.

Putting an sd cart in the slot it's intended for isn't on the same tech level with screwing open your console and replacing the flash storage with a better one though. (Yes, I know it's ridiculously easy, but a depressing amount of people have never used a screwdriver)

Here's an article from Eurogamer explaining the author's (and most likely others) skepticism on the whole thing. He brings up some good points.

This sounds interesting, but I am unsure about it. It may end up like the Phantom, which had the same idea (digital distribution for consoles). However, with that much funding, it may get off the ground.

Phantom lives on in Onlive.

Was there anyone who actually legitimately enjoyed Battletoads as a game and not as a friendship destroyer?

I am skeptical about the 8 GB of internal flash storage. You won't get very far with just that much data. My iPod can hold much more than that, and I think my cell phone can as well. Hopefully once it enters full development they'll consider giving it more memory.

Well realizing that they will probably have an online storage feature and or an external memory chip

That doesn't really work well for installing games.

I thought that was real for a second. lol

It isn't a bad idea. Especially the whole "no wires" thing. With Apple TV, it could wirelessly connect. When you connect your iTunes account to it, it could automatically sync your games and apps through the cloud, turning your TV into a giant iPad, but use your iPod/iPad/iPhone as a controller, and the TV as a screen. This could effectively combat the Wii U.

Not if it used iTunes for anything.
