Citing the WoW forums for any MMO argument is a very poor way to justify your means. Try a forum that's not WoW related, there are a good amount of players that are not playing WoW as well.

Wait so you want me to find a forum of people who don't play WoW to talk about WoW lore?

Seriously? Did you even bother to read the post?

Citing the WoW forums for any MMO argument is a very poor way to back up any argument. Try a forum that's not WoW related, there are a good amount of gamers that are not playing WoW as well. And WoW's lore is also pretty bad too.

I guess roleplayers were the kind of people you avoided over WoW.

Commercials for an MMO company calling Blizzard out does not mean they want to be a WoW clone

Yes it does because they're basically saying "Leave your WoW for this game". You wouldn't see a Super Mario Bros. advertisement saying that now would you?

your reasons for not wanting to try a game

Nice baseless assumption, but wrong.

Savagery wrote:

RIFT is every game!

Right, I'm sure it drops the EXACT SAME quest, faction, skill, item, etc. etc. systems as World of Warcraft in the middle of the game. Getting to I don't know, level 10 is plenty to compare the games.

I didn't do it personally but some people mentioned how similar it is to World of Warcraft and people agreed.

I feel like the only person who doesn't care about comparing one game to others of the same genre. If a game's fun, and you enjoy it, then it's worthwhile. I play League of Legends but I also play Heroes of Newerth, and there is so much trash-talking between the two communities. I don't let these sorts of things get in the way of forming my own opinion, though.

RPers are nice and all but I just find the whole concept to be "ehhh".

But anyways for every RP server you see in any game, there are at least 3-4 non-RP servers and even then there's probably a good portion of people on RP servers that don't roleplay anyways. They are very few.

Only a few people care about RP and lore huh? Explain this then.

Somehow I doubt Blizzard would still be making more than thirteen separate novels if only a few people were buying them.

I actually infiltrated Defiant territory just to dance with those squirrels.

Well, that and to steal the nine sources of free level-scaled loot that you guys get from easter eggs in your first two zones. The guardian side only gets two and I wasn't particularly satisfied with that.

Here, in case you feel like getting it yourself.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasp I was going to wait until I got the water-breathing form from the Artifact Collector to explore more of the Lake but since that posts the exact locations I cannot resist. Time to go swimming forever.

Also do you guys really only get two? That doesn't seem very fair.

So, is Rift turning into WoW? Where the Alliance get stiffed on a ton of things and the Horde owns the world?

Well, every zone has a (usually well-hidden) puzzle which awards a bag of level-scaled loot. The Lake of Solace has the level capped at 30, Stonefield is 35, and Scarlet Gorge is also 35. It goes all the way up to 50, eventually. Blue quality stuff is the most common, but purple and green is also possible, for better or worse.

The reason that Defiant also get more loot is because there are Cairns, which give the exact same quality stuff but without requiring any puzzle-solving skills. The first two Guardian zones have none of these, while the Lake of Solace has eight, and Stonefield has another. Of course, there's nothing keeping Guardians of any level out of the Defiant zones, so the only real disadvantage is accessibility. If you know about the puzzles, you'll get them all fairly easily.

On that note, if you're not afraid of sneaking your way into Guardian territory, the Gloamwood puzzle is located here (note that the topmost Cairn has a level cap of 40 and technically counts as part of the other zone), and since it's hands-down the hardest puzzle in the game, here is a solver. Silverwood's puzzle is much, much easier, and you can find a plaque on the wall which starts it at (6415, 3154).

There's plenty more, too. It's great for gearing yourself out, although some of the loot can be disappointingly bad.

Considering I've never played WoW past a level 6 dark elf some three years ago, I can't say. I'd imagine that, since the game is new, and not everything has been discovered yet, not really.

Aaaaaaa awesome Ganelon, thank you! I love sneaking around so I shall venture into Gloamwood. (I was able to sneak my way to Iron Pine Peak by skirting around all the mobs and hoping not to run into any Guardians. A dwarf did see me at one point and I think he targeted me, but I was in a friendly town so the NPCs took care of him while I ran my booty the hell away. :v )

Okay, so I just hit 48 and finally realized that the Necromancer's 44 point ability, Corpse Explosion, sucks. It sucks far too much to spec that far into the soul without going all the way and getting the final ability, which is something I can't do quite yet. Naturally, a respec was in order. I went almost half and half between Dominator and Necromancer.

The result? With a certain trinket, I can have seven combat pets active at once. If I were to pick up a rather useless ability from the Necromancer tree, it could be twelve. I don't even need to fight people with this many minions at my disposal. They do all the work for me and I can just sit back and enjoy a tall glass of liquid suffering.

There are a number of waaaay out of the way item caches around Silverwood, one being beside where you get the highest spot achievement and the other bordering Gloamwood, and I've heard theres more.
EDIT: Yeah, those are cairns I was talking about. There's an achievement for finding all of them across the world

But 7-12 combat pets? Do you have the Elementalist pet in there too? I might try and spec to this when my mage alt gets there. For now, I'll just contemplate why my abandoned quests in Scarlet Gorge won't re-appear.
