They are remaking the DS into the next generation

Expect a Lite and an i version to immediately follow.

Decker, you have absolutely no concept of time whatsoever. Here, allow me to spell it out for you:

TWO YEARS IS A LONG TIME! TWO YEARS IS NOT "IMMEDIATELY AFTER"! IF YOU'RE GOING TO WAIT AROUND FOR A LITE VERSION OF THE 3DS BEFORE BUYING, THEN YOU WON'T ACTUALLY GET IT UNTIL 2013!

Got it?

They'll still be made.

People will buy the 3DS, and then a new one will come along, and they'll have to get the new one, and rinse repeat.

Plasma if all you did was come back to shout at me then I'd rather you just left again :/

Okay, see, you say "they'll have to get the new one". Since Nintendo have never EVER done that with any of their mid-generation consoles, as all the differences have been hardware-related and didn't affect the games at all, I can only conclude that you're talking about the entire generation afterwards.

So that's, what, SIX AND A HALF YEARS AWAY?!

THAT'S NOT BETTER!

WHOOPS I FORGOT THAT POINTING OUT A FLAW IN SOMEONE'S THINKING IN CAPITAL LETTERS IS THE HEIGHT OF INSULTS! AND THAT YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE ON THIS FORUM WHO ACTUALLY MATTERS!
daisies, AND HERE I WAS THINKING THAT I COULD TALK TO MY FRIENDS AGAIN BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DONE SO IN A WHILE, BUT I GUESS YOU JUST DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!

And the worst part is that when you read this, you're still going to think that I'm the one being offensive here, despite that you just told me, in serious terms, that you wanted me to leave the forum outright!

Undoubtedly the 3D stuff will be improved upon and they'll release a secondary model with better tech and battery life etc. etc.

I thought the DSi was the only one which could access downloadable content?

DSi is also the only one that has an SD card slot, a camera, and was supposedly getting games specifically for the DSi's hardware.

Also Plasma, you're the one being sarcastic at me.

I usually stick with the first generation of a particular platform. I mean I've had my DSphat for 5 years (seems like it's been so much longer).

And a handheld console with Gamecube level graphics? I am excite.

If it can't play GBA games, I'm not replacing my Standard DS :colbert:

This is nice, but since I just got a DSi this year I'm not overwhelmingly excited. The 3-D concept seems pretty awesome, idk how if will function as Nintendo's new game gimmick though. The only reason I'll buy this right away is if that new pokemon game is a launch title.

I doubt the 3D thing will have any game functionality at all.

But yeah, if the Gen5 game is a launch title, I'd buy it instantly!

If anything really good comes out, I might get it, but I'm pretty set with my DS. I always keep all my old handhelds, though, so I'll still be able to play my old games.

I'm just rolling into that phase of my life where I can no longer buy anything I want and must budget. The only reason I have a DSi is due to Christmas.

I hate that they're rolling out these DS remakes and then plan a whole-new handheld. These remakes are no better than the PSP Go to me.
Just pointless if you ask me, "omg wat bigger screen!?"

But that being said, I'm probably going to end up buying a 3DS
