I still hate Final Fantasy, it being turn based is just one of the many traits it possesses.

FFXIII looks terrible as far as internet opinions go. 2chan says it's terribly linear for the first 20 hours or so of the game, that the battle system is simplistic and doesn't permit any real challenge or strategy, that the character sucks, that shopping is totally useless, etc etc.

I don't know if this is all that bad (I hope not), but I know that some things make me cringe already. For example, the party (of 3) is always fixed, there are only 8 items usable in fights, the party is healed after a fight, you can't sneak past weak enemies... That and I hated almost every character design by Nomura post-FFIX (and Sephiroth's too). I mean, the guy can create good monsters and summons, but his character designs are mostly terrible.

Hopefully the story proves to be at least interesting.
