it bodaciously told you in no uncertain terms that you were going to have a bad time. toby fox's response to people complaining about this boss is that they deserve it for what they've done to get there. i don't know what you were expecting, but it really should have been "a bad time".

If you name yourself Frisk you get a Hard Mode ruins with the game telling you "This will make your life Hell."
And I had no problem with it.
Tell me how "A bad time" is somehow far more difficult than "Living Hell."? I assumed a bad time wouldn't be that bad considering I went through a living hell without a problem.
If I was told "That path you're taking will make your life a Living Hell" then yes, I'd fully accept how hard this boss is. But I was told it was just gonna be a "bad time." This boss is FAR WORSE than a bad time.

A Bad Time is too vague to grasp how difficult something is.
And honestly, "players deserve it for what they did."

Your character is a child in a strange place filled with monsters that are trying to kill them. The only reason you survive in the Ruins is because of Toriel, and then she threatens to remove your only way of ever getting home. She is essentially a kidnapper, sure to us she may be helping, but to a child who doesn't fully understand, this is a stranger who is stopping him going home.

Even if Papyrus doesn't ever kill you, he still beats you within an inch of your life and locks you away leaving you with a dog food bowl. What do you think a frightened kid would do? He might run away, or fight back. When finding out he can fight back, he makes sure to kill the monsters so they don't ever come back for him. And this goes on and on.

All this killing may have just started because all the monsters in the ruins attack him for no other reason than he's a human.
So yes, we deserve this nightmarishly difficult boss, because we were just protecting ourselves from ever being hurt by monsters. And this boss right here, is yet another monster, trying to kill you.

the genocide ending is the malicious destruction of every living creature. there is no way that you can get it without deliberately running around in zones farming levels off of all the monsters until they go extinct in every zone individually. do NOT tell me that you just "accidentally" blundered into it or that you did it for RP reasons because we both know that that's simply not goddamn true.

feel free to be salty about your bad time but don't tell me that you weren't warned or that you did it by accident or whatever.

I'm not saying I wasn't warned full stop. I'm saying that the so-called warning was not sufficient enough.
In what world isA bad time worse than Living Hell? Honestly, please tell me why Living Hell is far easier than a bad time.

Also it's quite easy for a person who usually grinds levels to be overpowered to accidentally start a genocide run. There are only 4 areas which all share the kill number within the areas. I encountered and grinded on far more enemies on Final Fantasy V, I grinded for hours upping my jobs and levels. This run wasn't because I liked grinding but don't say it's impossible for a new player who likes to grind to accidentally stumble on it.

you seem to be complaining about the point of the game

you went out of your way to kill everything. to purposefully, and maliciously, kill everything. why?
"if only just to see other sides of characters personalities."
you wanted to do it just to see how they reacted. you wanted to kill everything, just to see what would happen.

your wanted to destroy lives and cause misery simply because you thought it would be fun.

and what, you thought everyone would just stand around and let you? you thought the world itself wouldn't do it's best to take you down? that everyone would just let you slaughter not just them, but the entire world? all of existence? that nobody would fight back?

you're the villain. you're the bad guy. you're the antagonist. they're the heroes. they're the good guys. they're the protagonists.

you deserve this.

I understand what you're all getting at but from a gameplay standpoint I just really don't like it.
And honestly, because I can't beat that boss, there's no need to play it any more.
All that's left is to uninstall it. Essentially destroying the whole world, erasing it from existence in the universe that is my computer.
By being too difficult, the boss indirectly caused the erasure of the world and all its inhabitants.

Dear lord, I sound like one of those monologuing JRPG villains with a god complex. xD
Do ya think I play too many JRPGs?

I think you don't play enough if you're dropping this because you died at a boss.

Git gud or get dunked on

You know what's REALLY annoying?
Grinding for hours to exploit the Dog Residue

The boss is too hard to be fun for me.
I loved the story, I liked doing the pacifist run but right now I just don't have any motivation to finish it.

Even after years I still haven't even beaten Ran Yakumo on Touhou despite many tries over the years.
My motivation for that was that they could be the first extra boss I beat.

The motivation to beat this boss. Unlock the worst ending basically? I really can't be bothered with that.

Seems like everything is just draining my motivation nowadays...

the game isn't the world itself, it's your way of interacting with the world

by not playing it and uninstalling, you're getting the best possible ending you can get from a genocide run. undyne beat you, and now peace has a change to come to both humans and monsters.

Wait, which boss are you up against, Undyne or Sans? You didn't exactly make that clear.

i'll probably just watch a genocide run somewhere online because i DON'T feel like playing through the game 3 seperate times because........nah..............no.........

but daisies this is a fun game and it's kinda neat to have more battle mechanics than "FITE" all the dang time. Also characters who give you a hard time for being pacifist SHUT UP I DO WHAT I WANT

I kind of hope Jirard Khalil (The Completionist jsyk) does a video of this game? Partly because I mean....this is made for that sort of thing. The Completion Bonus is a little different than most games, and he seems to enjoy putting himself through pure gaming hell!

Sans, an earlier post I made said I beat Undyne.
I beat her in about 4 tries.
She is what I call difficult but fair. I was completely fine with her battle.

Edit: Actually reading back I can see how you thought I meant Undyne, but yeah. It's Sans I'm stuck on.

I was under the impression that it was.
Both the Flowey and Asriel fights involve save files directly. Flowey knows it's a game and can manipulate it.
Even against Asriel you "Try to reach your save file."
Even Asgore and Sans affect your game menu directly.

Also it was Sans. Not Undyne who beat me, so most of the world is done for, and it's stuck that way since I can't beat him.

More on it, if I uninstall it, my save file is gone, the history of me ever falling into the mountain never happens. The game goes back to before I appeared, with Asgore still waiting for that seventh human soul. And the monsters still all trapped in the mountain. And Flowey still wanting to kill everything.

Flowey knows about resetting, even Sans does. But an uninstall is far greater than the resets they go on about.
As it erases their memory which resets do not.

that's not how timelines work. not seeing them through doesn't mean they just never started in the first place. your "ending" is that sans beats you, and he saves the remaining world. that's how your game ends if you just uninstall and that's the good ending of the genocide run, because you are the villain in the genocide run, and you lose.

the game does not exist inside itself, the window you play it on is your way of interacting with it

frisk's DETERMINATION is what allows you to save. as long as you stay determined, you'll always go back to your save point. you, the player, have the ability to reset the world and take frisk back to the start. but you have no power to destroy it entirely.

by giving up, the timeline doesn't end. frisk just dies then and there, when sans beat him and you.

which still is most of the world going unharmed by your genocidal actions.
