Well, I guess 20 hours remain unless you're getting it at retail then it's longer than 24 hours. It's a fail in at least two ways.



A ton has changed since then. I'll make a list for you but I may miss a couple things. My main source is Bidoof Crossing on Tumblr by the way.

1)The NES games are gone.
2)The grass slowly wears away as you run on it, you can fix it though
3) PANTS
4) You can wear a different hat to your shirt and when you make a pattern for a shirt you can design both sides and each sleeve. You can also put accesories on your character like glasses and buy shoes and socks.
5) You're the mayor and you get to build stuff around town. You slowly unlock said stuff.
6) You can't ask your neighbours for tasks anymore.
7) The house has different wings and room you can build, not just a first floor, second floor, and a basement.
There are new personality types
9) The world isn't divided up into screens.
10) The bobber for ocean fishing goes against the tide which bothers me.
11) There's free DLC.
12) You can change your hair style and hair colour eventually. I think it'll take a minimum of 21 days to unlock though.
13) You don't have to mail fossils away to identify them, just hand it to Blathers and he'll do it.

That's all the stuff I can think of at the moment. There's also BidoofCrossing's Masterpost which has a ton of information all neat and organized you can check out.

This process was ridiculously quick in City Folk, and even faster in Summer and Winter, so fast in fact that it was known as desertification, since it would:

Die whenever you stepped on it during a session
Each reload of the game sets a new session, so if you jump in and out over the day it withers quick
It would regrow by one step every day, and 2 steps in the spring
Running would make it go even quicker

So basically towns were a sea of dirt, and only where you walked, which means that the only grass was in corners and shit
