People on the internet tend to have heard of the games I play, but in the actual physical world, people never seem to know what Katamari is, which is a crying shame

And I can blame this on it being older than half my peers, but an astonishingly low number of people know about Chrono Trigger

Everybody only really recalls Katamari for its apeshit kawaii weirdness. I think that's why it's so praised, it dared to be different, a rarity back then.

How was that rarer in 2004 than any other period?

My friend had that game. I never played it though.

Anyone ever heard of Kung Fu for NES? It's pretty much the only game I know of made by Irem, a company made famous by JonTron.

Holy SHIT these were some good games for the GBA. And yet I only know of one other person who has played the first game.
One of the things that made it unique was the weapon crafting system (which was revamped for the second, for the better IMO) and the battle system was a side scrolling action style which made it perfect for the game boy advance: it was sharp and responsive. The storyline is also different than others because The second game was a definite improvement over the first, and it's not a sequel so you don't have to play the first to play SNSS 2.

I played the shit out of that game. It was so daisies hard.

Summon Night: Swordcraft story was an especially enjoyable game and I still really feel like I should play the 2nd one. They dropped the ball with the DS game.

IIRC the DS game isn't part of the Swordcraft Story spinoffs.
Why they never released the main Summon Night games for the states, I'll never understand.

Hell, even though I'm not a strategy game fan, I would have given it a chance.

The last time I looked for the 2nd Swordcraft Story game on ebay it cost at least 170 Euros. I'm not going to pay that much cheddar for a game.
