I still have no idea what's going on with the specs. 32-bit cpu, 8gb of RAM? What? The PS3 had 512mb of RAM that it shared with the gpu.

Best part of the conference was Blow's little quip when he came on stage.

Interesting thing, because the PS4 hardware is much more similar to PC hardware than the PS3, ports will be easier and so will emulation.

Isn't the cpu 64-bit?

Wait, got my terminology mixed up. x86 which apparently is in fact 64-bit. I was thinking in Windows terms where x86 refers to a 32-bit OS.

Touchpads are my bane as a left-handed gamer. Where's the joystick that controls the camera? To the right. Which one controls movement? The left. So for most people, they can move around as they swipe. Me? I get to stand still.

This is why I hate the rise of touch-pad gaming.

I couldn't agree more with this statement.

As for the PS4 it'll be interesting to see more details/how it looks as a system when E3 comes around. I hope they change the actual analog sticks back to how they are on the PS3 not like the Nyko third-party cheapo sticks they have on there now

Another feature that I like is the innate game recording and streaming capability. That's one of the social features that makes a good amount of sense.

I can't see publishers getting behind that very much.

I think it'll either get limited to multiplayer videos, or at least restricted in some way for games with extensive single players.

It's ripe for in-console LPing, and I don't see game companies wanting to get behind that.

I'm pretty sure game companies would see it as free publicity. I've never heard of publishers or developers cracking down on or getting angry at popular channels on sites like Twitch.tv. Hell, in this generation Black Ops 2 has a recording feature that let's you live stream the game and upload it to Youtube or Twitch, and they probably don't care about if you're griefing or exploiting a bug in the game.

It seems like to a lot of game developers, any publicity is good publicity, pretty much the opposite of movie and music companies.

That Knack game does look pretty neat, but my question about it is:

What exactly is it about the game that requires it be on hardware as intense as the PS4?

The only things I can think of are either Knack is made up of so many polygons that it needs the extra hardware or that the game absolutely NEEDS the touchpad thing.
Both of which seem like really shitty reasons.

The developers may have just decided to only have it on the PS4. Making a game for separate consoles isn't as easy as point and click to change. They have major differences and they may not want to take the cheddar required to do it.

The most logical explanation I can think of is that the character Knack has a lot of moving parts on him that also seem to be physics objects. Combining that with the rest of the game (enemies and friendly characters moving and fighting and talking) could take some serious power, especially when he's (based on snippets of the story) going to grow to be absolutely gigantic.

Hopefully Sony has gotten wiser since the whole POWER OF THE CELL thing. Porting and developing for the PS3 was a pain in the booty from what I've heard.
