Welp it'd be the first Mario game I've ever played so I didn't want to fuck it up.

How.

I do not want to sound rude here.
But it is the single most prolific and profitable game series ever.
I was under the impression that bodaciously everyone who had ever held a controller had at least played a mario title.

How.

I never played the original on the NES, and the series never interested me.

Get Mario 3 or Galaxy, those games are also great.

I consider myself to be a Mario fan but I feel like getting Mario 3 is a waste of Wiishop points. Maybe it's because the first Mario games I had played were World and 64 (which are fantastic) but I only started playing 3 when I got it in the summer and I just don't like 3. It's really hard, you can't replay stages (which makes finding the right suit a pain) and some of the tricks don't always work.

You know that infamous trick that was in The Wizard, where you fly up to a ledge in the first fortess that's just below the screen so you're doing it blind, but when you walk so far you get one of the Warp Whistles? I've done that several times but sometimes it won't let me go further. Sometimes it works, but sometimes I'm running against something that wouldn't let me go further, no matter what I do.

I also couldn't figure out how to actually steal the Goomba's Shoe in the one level that one time I got that far (using whistles), which I thought is ment to be a highlight of the game. Probably my own fault but I tried several times and not once could I get in it.

What makes it a worse waste of virtual cheddar (that I could have used in MM10 for example) is that after I got it I got a preowned Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii, which has a version of the game with nice SNES graphics and sound. Yeah, this is certainly my own fault but now I have two versions of a game I'm not so fond of. But I still was hopeful for it. 'Oh wow, now I'd be able to do that Warp Whistle trick properly, right?' Considering it wasn't a glitchy NES post and a SNES game on a Wii disc.

Wrong. I still can't get up there every time. After all the faffing it takes to get in at the right angle and height, it sometimes just stops letting me go on. Well, the game is daisies hard and I never get far when I try to play it without skipping worlds so I need all the whistles I can get my hands on.

And I know how I sound like a quitter because I consider this a hard game, but I can still play Mega Man games without getting so annoyed. I think SMW is much, much better, partially because you're allowed to revisit old levels and grind. Mario games are very enjoyable and can be challenging, but it seems as soon as you're out of World one, the difficultly is jacked right up.

I think it's probably a great game if you get into the groove of it, but I don't have the nostalgia goggles, the cartoons are just strange and annoying to me and after all the praise of it I saw all over the Internet I felt pretty let down.

omfg I'm so excited for this. Dream Team? HELL YES.

The graphics? Flawless jump from 2-D to 3-D while maintaining the art style.

The concept? Phenomenal. Going inside of Luigi's head to have crazy dream shit and puzzles happen? Yes.

Returning characters? Unbelievable. I see Starlow, Bean people, and some shroob-looking things.

If we're traveling through Luigi's dreams/memories and such, I expect to see a lot of motherfucking nostalgia. Could not be more excited for this game. bodaciously the greatest thing ever.

I hope you get to explore a Luigi's Mansion type world, with King Boo as the Boss for it. (Luigi's Mansion was Luigi's first game, so why not have a world based after it?)

Hopefully, it won't be too expensive as DLC.
