Yet we still don't get the option of picking up a Jackal shield. That's always bugged me.

I'd like to see dual wielding come back in one of two ways. One is mixing the effects of the weapons. Using a plasma pistol on overcharge combined with another weapon allowed you to tear through a shield and kill an enemy quickly. Combining anything else just doubled the damage rate. Energy does better against shields than bullets, but by mixing the two, it should have the added effect of letting the bullets go through the shield before it's completely down. Mixing two different energy weapons could have different effects, like wearing shields down more quickly or blinding the opponent with glare.

Another way to bring back dualwielding would be as a throw away weapon. Typically I carry one weapon for accuracy and one for damage. If one runs out of ammo, I usually hold onto it until I get more ammo for it. There's little sense in carrying a Plasma Pistol or a Needler very far. If I'm in the middle of a firefight and I run a clip down I can take the time to reload or switch weapons, but what if I could, with my off hand, pick up one of the dozen weapons off the ground and start firing it. Reloading two weapons is unwieldy so after emptying the gun you could just toss it and if necessary pick up another. Some weapons could be carried for a ways like this while others, say a Fuel Rod Cannon, could be fired with reduced accuracy from a crouched position.

or you can just do what I used to do and pack dual pistols and be a total fucking badass until I died quickly and painfully

Omnithea youre talking like Plasma/Headshot isnt still a completely viable tactic. It still perfectly possible and devastating with Dexterity as a mod. Hell, its one of the few instances where the BR truly shines over the DMR as you have the 3 shot spread to more easily land a headshot once their shield is down.

Personally, I enjoy the melee/headshot combo. I never liked using the plasma pistol anyway.

Unless they have the Operator's Wheelman perk.

Also, I've noticed that there is a serious draw distance problem and it annoys the hell out of me. On Ragnarok, the blades of grass/flowers pop in only when your view (either walking up to them or zooming in with a scope) is pretty close up. As well, on Complex, the red leafy plants on the map outright disappear at a range. I cannot wait until the Durango/720/Nextbox comes out, because I'm not sure how much more they can stretch this gen out.

So I can physically see that free Crimson map Pack we got last week on my hard drive. But when I try to play the Crimson playlist in Infinity it sends me to the Marketplace and tells me to fork over 800 for Crimson.

I meant this more as a general change to gameplay, not a critique of the reloading speeds in the game as it stands. I feel like it would add a fun twist to the campaign.

Go back and play any variation of Blood Gulch, come back, and then say that. At least Valhalla has that big-booty ridge so base-to-base sniper duels are (almost) a thing of the past.
