There is, and the topic is stickied, although you're new to the forums so don't expect to be whitelisted anytime soon

There is, but it doesn't mean you can't get on it, just be active on the forums really.

Right now we are in the middle of a move, so you will need to wait a bit, it's open for all to connect to, but unless you are on the whitelist you won't be able to do anything except kill animals, monsters, and get stuck in places and annoy me to get you out =p

Well, that's cool. I guess I'll lurk around at some point and hopefully do not get stuck in places.

Alright ladies and gents, your favorite classy motherfucker is here to give you some deetz on the new "ADVENTURE UPDATE."

Image
(Taken from Notch's tumblr.)

Okay, so I've got some fairly awesome details. Right now, as Minecraft is standing on 1.7.2, most of the "basics" of the game has been covered. Now, Notch's main goal is to "Flesh it out." By that, he means more gaming content; meaning more combat stuff, more exploration, and a slightly less of a focus on building silly things everywhere.

Notch has a nice big personal list of cool things he wants to add into Minecraft, some little things, some giant huge-o awesome things. As of Minecraft 1.8, being the super amazing Adventure Update if you didn't already know, a lot, and I mean A FUCK LOT, of amazing things are already being implemented. So far, Notch and Jens have been pretty secretive about it, not wanting to spoil, really anything dramatic. But, they have been kind enough to give us a taste of the amazing update.

As of the recent few weeks, Notch has handed out little new things he has been working on, these being:

-New lighting.
-More unique and interesting world generation.
-New mossy cobble texture. (Since they changed the Cobblestone texture.)
-A new mob(s?)
-Ravines*
-Sheep and other animals being more persistant (meaning they won't despawn if you move farther away) along with sheep eating grass to regrow wool.*
-NPC Villages.
-A new type of dungeon, being the ruins of old fortresses.
-Giant mushrooms.
-More complex combat, instead of STAB RUN STAB RUN STAB RUN.
And some others that we are still unsure of, like natural cobwebs, stacked food, and some new things in the nether. (Items with a * have not been offically comfirmed, but are most likely in the update.)

But, in Notches newest Tumblr update, he has revealed some new things as well. These being:
-New biome code.
-Fully working Creative Mode.
-And a comfirmed item in the "Complex Combat" item, critical hits.
-Sprinting.
-And More Farming options.

Now, you may look at this list, and say "SHIT KOMO. There are 18 new items in a single update! That more than some of the previous 'big updates!' WHAT ELSE CAN BE IN THIS UPDATE!?"

That's the beauty of it, my friends. We still don't know. This is going to be the BIGGEST UPDATE SO FAR. Probably bigger than the "WE ARE FINISHED" update.

And we do not even have an offical release date for this update yet, so hold onto your leather chaps and pickaxes, and just keep digging for diamonds, as we wait for 1.8.

I really hope it's more than a new mob and Pigmen don't count as a new mob. :I

No, now you build shears using 2 iron bars and use them to cut the wool off
