I have a soft spot for fully 3D platformers/adventure games
So is it bad that I think the gameplay of '06 for the most part looks alright

it's actually very bad yes

just watching, it dosen't seem so bad

but the game controls horribly and it is significantly different actually playing

i really do suggest just staying away from it. it's not a badge of honor, a hill to be conquered, none of that shit. it's just bad. full on, full stop, unenjoyable and unplayable.

I know, GalaxyMan, but, as stupid/pathetic/fucking moronic as I might sound right now, I feel like I have to play it to get the full picture of how terrible it is.

Because I've just been going 'Sonic 06 more like Sonic oh shit haha right guys?' and having only just watched playthroughs of it, and while that general thought train won't bodaciously change AT ALL, I'll at least feel like I can say 'Sonic 06 is the worst', but then I can go 'and here's WHY' speaking from personal experience and not quoting someone else's experience.

video games are one of the few things i judge based more on my own experience than everyone else's, though i still keep everyone's thoughts/experiences/whathaveyou in mind.

edit; i still feel like i'm a huge moron, but i usually feel that i'm the moron in most discussions anyway, so whatever.

From what I heard, 06's level design really isn't that bad.

After seeing the gameplay for Sonic X-Treme Galaxy, I'm pretty excited for the game. Dimps is making the 3DS version, so I'm a bit hesitant that version even if some of the current footage looks good.

Hopping on the unpopular opinion time, I didn't like Colors too much either. The Wisps would have been neat in any other game, but like the Werehog, they just didn't fit. Also most of them struck me as infuriating breaks in gameplay? Like okay, laser was cool. It got you places and then got out of your way. Cube was worse than Heroes' character switching mechanic, Frenzy was just lazy, Rocket took way too long and only served to validate some unimaginative level design, etc etc.

I liked Colors the most for the first and last stages. Terminal Velocity was great.

Also, speaking of Sonic 06: the thing is, it's not really a bad game in any important way. I mean, yeah, it sucks. No question there. But that's not the most offensive thing about it. It looks like it's funny-bad in LP's because there are people actively making fun of it, but actually playing it is just sort of draining not because it's but because it's not fun at all. It wouldn't matter how good the game was, it's simply impossible to eke any enjoyment out of it.


As for my thoughts on Lost World: Idunno, I might pass? I really loved the speed/response thing daytime Unleashed, modern Generations, and the good bits of Colors had going. I'd love to see a game that's just that the whole ride through. It's not that it doesn't look like a good game, it just doesn't look like my type of game. Just to tease GM some more, even the gameplay is starting to remind me of Super Mario Galaxy, or some mix of that and Assassin's Creed. I'm waiting to see how viable the faster movement is before I get excited.

This is exactly why it's fun to watch people LP it. It's fun to watch people play good games, and it's fun to watch them play terrible ones.
Sonic '06 is that special brand of terrible where playing it drains you to the point that you start trying to make your own fun, which is where the LP comes in.

That cutscene was wonderful, can't wait to see more.

I like how they actually kind of subvert the whole story off the bat like that. Eggman isn't betrayed at the end, and he actually seems to have really solid control over the Six, but Sonic is the one who fucks that up.

Also everything seems... dark. Like the whole cutscene just seems like them really trying to push how much harm they can do to Eggman without straight up injuring him.

When watching the Sonic Lost World trailer I think I facepalmed a little too hard when Sonic kicked the shell out of Eggmans hand... good job pin cushion, for once we can blame him for shit going wrong *slow claps*

Well my favourite Sonic game is SA2 mainly because Eggman is playable along with it being the first game we see Shadow in, I bought myself Sonic '06 earlier off eBay because although I know it's bad it still has to be played... I'm gonna hate myself by the end of it though I just know it.
