I think you just need to redownload the server exe.

I think just running the server.exe is enough, but you'll still need to update any addons yourself.

Can the hatch swing down? Trap doors would be awesome.

It doesn't, but it's just a matter of visuals. It does the same thing.

Oh? Does it work if someone's standing on it? Because then you can make a long hatch corridor with two switches in the middle. One opens the far door, the other triggers your fall into whatever is underneath the hatch.

How would you make the person fall? They'd be on a pressure pad, not a hatch.

Easy. Like I said, a corridor with the hatch. And in the center of that corridor are two switches on the walls. Or more switches for extra fun. If it works with a pressure pad, then it should work with redstone switches.

The seed hellvaginas gives you a pretty nice cave area nearby to build in

It's pretty cool if you put trapdoors diagonally, It's like flip out stairs. And if you leave them vertically, It's like little ledges that you can walk on, which is another cool effect.
