Is it going to be comic book death or death death tho?

I'd normally say comic book death because DUH BIG SUPERHEROES DON'T DIE but it's a videogame series rather than a comic series, and you can slap a big fat "non-canon" sign on it and pretty much do anything

I swear to god, my capabilities of avoiding a spoiler suck so hard and it desperately makes me wish I could just bleach my mind.

Also, technically, with comic books, each comic tends to just be a seperate canon, for example, things like Gotham by Gaslight or even Tim Burton's films, each canon has its own ups and downs and is why Comics are so flexible for story-telling.

It's not unusual for a comic book character to "die" and revive within the same canon though. Like Batman getting hit by Darkseid's omega rays.

Not surprised as they killed off the Joker. Maybe he'll be revived somehow as that happens all the time but time will tell.

wwwwhy is everyone immediately assuming that "in memory" or "memorial" means "dies in-game"

i mean everyone dies at some point, and he doesn't even need to die he just needs to stop being batman. it's likely they'll end on a flashforward, maybe even get to see terry mcginnis. the series also has a history of finishing it and having batman go "okay there's still shit to do" so you can go around and finish all the side quests, so i find batman actually dying in-game somewhat improbable.

really the big spoiler here is that he's eventually called the gotham knight, to contrast against the arkham knight.

Warning, also a spoiler about the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Batman died in The Dark Knight Rises too. That third movie of the new movie trilogy. With Bane. As in, Batman died in a way where having a "Batman died" memorial would make sense for the People of Gotham™ - even though Bruce Wayne didn't actually die.

Also this is the first time I used those spoiler tags here.

I missed the Nintendo Direct, but I saw the trailer for the new Fire Emblem game.

100% down with having it developed by Intelligent Systems again.

Edit: I realize now that Intelligent Systems has developed every Fire Emblem game and now I'm going to go die of embarrassment.

Nintendo has announced that North America is only getting the New 3DS XL, and not the standard unit (the one with the interchangeable face plates).

Goddammit Nintendo, I've been waiting six months for you to give me this and now you aren't giving it to me. Apparently, "we have made the decision that makes the most sense for the region" which I guess translates to "we don't think anyone outside Japan will actually buy the faceplates so why bother selling it". And the 3DS is region locked so I can't get around it that way either.

And these things typically go Standard Unit --> release larger XL later to get more cheddar; so I doubt they will go the other direction and release the standard one down the line. Which means screw NA, I guess.

daisies, that sucks. Giving consumers more choices is almost always in a company's best interest.

In other news, it's been found that a writer for PC Gamer has an undisclosed relationship with the Communications Associate at Ubisoft. Much of the evidence displayed in the article was publicly available through sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

The author of the article makes a good point here:
Author, Chris Heeley wrote:
While such a relationship is not inherently a cause for concern, the lack of disclosure in the articles written by Mr. Tyler Wilde at PC Gamer while covering Ubisoft games and press releases reveals once again that the often lampooned call for ‘better ethics in gaming media’ has a long way to go before any kind of universal transparency can be reached.

PC Gamer has responded to their failure to disclose the relationship between writer Tyler Wilde and Ubisoft employee Ann Marie Lewis.

According to This article that was posted, PC Gamer will more actively disclose personal relationships as they relate to articles that are put out.

PC Gamer wrote:
This is what we’ll do in terms of disclosure from hereon: Tyler will no longer write or assign any coverage related to Ubisoft. PC Gamer writers will continue to be obliged to disclose any significant personal relationships with people whose work they might cover, with the expected outcome that they will no longer be assigned to that particular subject. In any situation in which the writer was still required to comment on the subject, full disclosure will be provided in the article.

An excellent article discussing the persisting myth of the lack of diversity in gamer culture. It also includes a playlist of two videos that look at a biased study done to see whether or not gamers had trouble identifying with characters of a different gender or race than their own.

Pretty good, reminds me of these two pictures, one is of a convention to promote diversity in videogames and one is of a convention where they actually play videogames. Course this isn't actual evidence of anything and could easily be cherrypicked, but it's a nice illustration.
