oh and apparently on the 17th they'll release the quest for star knight finally, even though like 75% of the people in G-Rank already have it.

Geez the Gore was a pain in the booty and a half. I died when it went berserk in area 3 of Anc. steps, I used all my megapotions and Nullberries too.
There was only like, one place I could even try to mount it but once it started going berserk I just couldn't handle it. Took a good half hour to take it down. Would be nice if I could farm it for a Gore set at least but I dunno if I've got it in me.

Yeah, Gore is gonna be tough the first few times you fight him.

The biggest thing to watch out for is his explosion attack. It sweeps along him in the front horizontally in three bursts.

Gore was extremely tough for me when I first fought him. A very important tip: standing in front of its face is a very bad idea. The safest spot to be when fighting it is to the back or sides. If you have cats distracting it or a particularly mobile weapon, it's well worth the effort to move out of its way.

Gunlance kinda plants me in the ground for most of the fight. I was always able to dodge that sweeping blast it does though.
I think I should grind for better palico sets before then though.

you gotta shield some things with GL, it's very hard to be any sort of mobile. try to get as many shield skills as you can, like guard up or guard+1 or 2.

do not use auto-guard

I got two sleeps on the Bluet-Ku during my first fight with him.

Oh yeah, if I auto guarded every attack I'd never be able to move. Shielding saved me from a good number of Gore's charges to be sure.
